.NET developer trying to understand some Rails basics
Hi All,
I''ve been a ASP.NET developer for the last few years and consider it to
be a pretty productive environment to work with. However, the
object-relational mapping (ActiveRecord) and simplicity of the Rails
framework and Ruby in general really appeals to me. .NET currently
doesn''t have something like Rails'' ORM - atleast not out-of-the-box.
Here''s my

On-write Automatic Snapshot
Apologies if this has been addressed, but looking at some of the sun
blogs and google searches I have not been able to find an answer.
Does ZFS support on write automatic snapshots?
For example, according to defined policy, every time a file is written
a snapshot is created with the diff stored. I can see this being
useful in high security environments and companies that have extreme
regulatory

Export ZFS via ISCSI to Linux - Is it stable for production use now?
Hello,
I want to setup an opensolaris for centralized storage server, using
ZFS as the underlying FS, on a RAID 10 SATA disks.
I will export the storage blocks using ISCSI to RHEL 5 (less than 10
clients, and I will format the partition as EXT3)
I want to ask...
1. Is this setup suitable for mission critical use now?
2. Can I use LVM with this setup?
Currently we are using NFS as the

Are recursive snapshot destroy and rename atomic too?
In another thread recursive snapshot creation was found atomic so that
it is done quickly, and more important, all at once or nothing at all.
Do you know if recursive destroying and renaming of snapshots are atomic too?

Do you have any extension in default context of your extensions.conf
file to accept incoming calls ?
It must be something like;

exten => 12345678,2,Playback(Welcome)
...
12345678 = The DID number you are calling to reach E1

zfs acls and MS office applications
I'm trying to use zfs acls in solaris 10. I've looked at past posts
regarding this and some online help, but am stuck. I'm currently using
samba 3.3.9; I've had the same problem with 3.3.7. samba is compiled
and running as an Active Directory member server (compiled with ldap and
kerberos). The zfs disk is local. I'm not using winbind. I compiled
with zfsacl module.
