Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and 1TB Seagate Barracuda ES.2
Hi all, I''m getting a very strange problem with a recent OpenSolaris b134 install. System is: Supermicro X5DP8-G2 BIOS 1.6a 2x Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 1.0b 11 Seagate Barracuda 1TB ES.2 ST31000340NS drives If I have any of the 11 1TB Seagate drives plugged into the controller, the AOC-SAT2-MV8 BIOS appears to detect them just fine, but I get the following problems: 1. Grub takes a

Looking for some hardware answers, maybe someone on this list could help
I posted a thread here... http://forums.opensolaris.com/thread.jspa?threadID=596 I am trying to finish building a system and I kind of need to pick working NIC and onboard SATA chipsets (video is not a big deal - I can get a silent PCIe card for that, I already know one which works great) I need 8 onboard SATA. I would prefer Intel CPU. At least one gigabit port. That''s about it. I

Force SATA1 on AOC-SAT2-MV8
I have a supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and am having some issues getting drives to work. From what I can tell, my cables are to long to use with SATA2. I got some drives to work by jumpering them down to sata1, but other drives I can''t jumper without opening the case and voiding the drive warranty. Does anyone know if there is a system setting to drop it back to SATA1? I use zfs on a raid2 if

ZFS SATA Hotswap Autoreplace
I am trying to test a new setup of NV74. I have set up the system with ZFS boot. Everything works fine until I pull a drive. The system locks up when I try to run any command e.g. zpool status. There is no communication with the server from then on. It does not even respond to pings. Setup - Supermicro SC836TQ-R800 Chassis Supermicro X7DB8 Motherboard Supermicro SAT2-MV8 SATA controller

CentOS 4.1 x86_64 compiler segfaults
Hi list! I am running CentOS 4.1 x86_64 on an Athlon64. The box was installed only yesterday. Yesterday I was still able to compil stuff, yesterday even the tiniest and simplest programs fail to compile always with internal compiler error: Segmentation fault. For example: make -C /usr/src/linux-2.6 SUBDIRS=/tmp/bristuff-0.2.0-RC8n/qozap ZAP=-I/tmp/bristuff-0.2.0-RC8n/zaptel-1.0.9 modules

Offtopic: Which SAS / SATA HBA do you recommend?
Hi all, Sorry for the offtopic question. I hope though that others on this list or reading the archive find the answers useful too. It seems the Adaptec 1405 4port SAS HBA I bought only works with RHEL and SuSE through a closed source driver, and thus is quite useless :-( I was stupid enought to think "Works with RHEL and SuSE" meant "Certified for RHEL and SuSE, but driver in

Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8
Bouncing a thread from the device drivers list: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=357176 Does anybody know if OpenSolaris will support this new Supermicro card, based on the Marvell 88SE6480 chipset? It''s a true PCI Express 8 port JBOD SAS/SATA controller with pricing apparently around $125. If it works with OpenSolaris it sounds pretty much perfect. --------------

[LLVMdev] df_ext_iterator in LiveIntervalAnalysis
I would like to make a suggestion. In the LiveIntervalAnalysis class, instead of numbering the instructions in the order in which basic blocks are stored in the machine function, use the df_ext_iterator. It will order the instruction according to the dominance tree (or it seems to be doing so). There are many advantages in doing this. One of them is that, once you traverse the dominance tree

[LLVMdev] df_ext_iterator in LiveIntervalAnalysis
Nice idea. Please also try using SmallPtrSet (with a sufficiently large size) instead of std::set for traversal after everything is working. Using std::set can really hurt compile time in case of large basic block numbers. Is there a way to dynamically adjust "SmallSize" based on number of basic blocks in the function? scrub differs in execute time?
I have a raidz2 and did a scrub, it took 8h. Then I reconnected some drives to other SATA ports, and now it takes 15h to scrub?? Why is that? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

ZFS, SATA, LSI and stability
After having massive problems with a supermicro X7DBE box using AOC-SAT2-MV8 Marvell controllers and opensolaris snv79 (same as described here: http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-66-233341-1) we just start over using new hardware and opensolaris 2008.05 upgraded to snv94. We used again a supermicro X7DBE but now with two LSI SAS3081E SAS controllers. And guess what? Now we get

System hangs at "Rebooting System" on VIA KM400 chipsets
Hello, We have a number of systems running KM400 chipsets from VIA (Socket A/462). Two different models have produced the same results -- DFI KM400-MLV and MSI KM4M-V. When a /sbin/reboot or /sbin/shutdown -r now is issued, the system does everything you would expect from a reboot, but when it gets to Rebooting System, it hangs and requires a power cycle. The logs do not indicate anything

SMART problems with AOC-SAT2-MV8 / marvell88sx driver
I''ve been trying to get either smartctl or sg3_utils to report properly. They both have the same low-level problems which leads me to suspect either I''m doing something wrong OR there is a problem in the marvell88sx / sd / SATA etc framework. I can access drive name/serial number of all drives on the SAT2 card and the temperature is returned from the IE log page on my two

Solaris 10 HVM on Intel VT?
