Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and 1TB Seagate Barracuda ES.2
Hi all,
I''m getting a very strange problem with a recent OpenSolaris b134 install.
System is:
Supermicro X5DP8-G2 BIOS 1.6a
2x Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 1.0b
11 Seagate Barracuda 1TB ES.2 ST31000340NS drives
If I have any of the 11 1TB Seagate drives plugged into the controller,
the AOC-SAT2-MV8 BIOS appears to detect them just fine, but I get the
following problems:
1. Grub takes a

SMART problems with AOC-SAT2-MV8 / marvell88sx driver
I''ve been trying to get either smartctl or sg3_utils to report properly.
They both have the same low-level problems which leads me to suspect
either I''m doing something wrong OR there is a problem in the
marvell88sx / sd / SATA etc framework.
I can access drive name/serial number of all drives on the SAT2 card
and the temperature is returned from the IE log page on my two

Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8
Bouncing a thread from the device drivers list:
http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=357176
Does anybody know if OpenSolaris will support this new Supermicro card,
based on the Marvell 88SE6480 chipset? It''s a true PCI Express 8 port JBOD
SAS/SATA controller with pricing apparently around $125.
If it works with OpenSolaris it sounds pretty much perfect.

Is this card new? I''m not finding it at the usual places like Newegg, etc.

I Still Have My Data
My test setup of 8 x 2G virtual disks under Virtual Box on top of Mac

Looking for some hardware answers, maybe someone on this list could help
I posted a thread here...
http://forums.opensolaris.com/thread.jspa?threadID=596
I am trying to finish building a system and I kind of need to pick
working NIC and onboard SATA chipsets (video is not a big deal - I can
get a silent PCIe card for that, I already know one which works great)
I need 8 onboard SATA. I would prefer Intel CPU. At least one gigabit
port. That''s about it.

External SATA drive enclosures + ZFS?
Hi all,
Space is starting to get a bit tight here, so I''m looking at adding
a couple of TB to my home server. I''m considering external USB or
FireWire attached drive enclosures. Cost is a real issue, but I also
want the data to be managed by ZFS--so enclosures without a JBOD option
have been disgarded (i.e., I don''t want to use any internal HW RAID
controllers).

Offtopic: Which SAS / SATA HBA do you recommend?
Hi all,
Sorry for the offtopic question. I hope though that others on this list
or reading the archive find the answers useful too.
It seems the Adaptec 1405 4port SAS HBA I bought only works with RHEL
and SuSE through a closed source driver, and thus is quite useless :-(
I was stupid enought to think "Works with RHEL and SuSE" meant "Certified

sleepy disk drives
Hi,
I'm having a grief with Seagate FreeAgent Pro drive connected to
CentOS 4 box via USB. The problem is that drive is factory configured
to take a nap (spin down) after some 15-20 minutes of inactivity, and
there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it. Since it's USB
connected, hdparm can't be used on it. Getting the drive out of the
case is not an option either, since it

Plugging in a hard drive after Solaris has booted up?
Hi guys,
I have a quick question, I am playing around with ZFS and here''s what I did.
I created a storage pool with several drives. I unplugged 3 out of 5 drives from the array, currently:
	NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
	gpool UNAVAIL 0 0 0 insufficient replicas
	  raidz1 UNAVAIL 0 0 0 insufficient replicas

AOC billing
Hello,
is there someone who knows if I can use AOC for billing in Asterisk?
I mean: let's say I have an external SIP device that produces AOC
data. This device connects me to the telco network. Can Asterisk, if
connected via SIP with this device, collect AOC data and put it in
the CDR records?
If not, which is the right way to use AOC for billing?
Thanks a lot

AOC-E pass through
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I'd like to know what is the current situation with regard to AOC-E,
when Asterisk is inserted between the telco and an existing PBX, using
E1 / EuroISDN. Can Asterisk pass the AOC-E information received from the
telco to the PBX, so that billing system still works? The system would
be for a hotel, so breaking billing system is not possible.

AOC-D or similar
hi all,
I'm trying to send text messages to Snom 300 to show the credit
remaining during the call...
Sending a MESSAGE directly to the phone via udp i'm able to update the
text on the display... but not during the conversation.
I read about AOC, but i can't find any documentation about Asterisk +
SIP + AOC
Have you any experience, docs or workaround to suggest?
Thx Ale

Fully supported 12-port SATA cards?
I am helping a friend who is build a storage server for his company
and I have advocated for Solaris and ZFS.
But now we are having trouble to find any good SATA controller for
12+ disks, there are Areca cards, but they seems very flaky (24 port
support, but hangs with more than 12 in JBOD mode, hangs on disk
failures etc).
The AOC-SAT2-MV8,AOC-USAS-L8i have been mentioned, but it had

My Asterisk PBX is connected to 2 ISDN lines by a PATTON gateway, in the
Patton specification is written that can manage the AOC message.
I would like record the AOC value on the mysql's CDR table, so to record
the call costs.
Is there some one who has manage this issues and can give me help to
configure the patton and Asterisk?
Many thanks in advance

mounting & partitioning Seagate FreeAgent external HD
Hi all,
As a disclaimer, I'm new to this list and very green administering
CentOS. I run it on my test servers and do very basic networking and
server administration (most users, permissions, and web app stuff).
I have a backup server that I am using rsync to collect important

servers, as well as a specific applications

Seagate FreeAgent Pro (external storage, eSATA) linux compatibility
Hi list
I am running out of space on my notebook. So wanna buy additional and
external storage. I don't wanna do a DIY-work, so searching for
pre-built external hard disks.
I wish to buy Seagate FreeAgent Pro [0]. Does it work under CentOS 5?
Would you recommend me even better products?
I am searching for good performance, noise-less, smart standard
