iptables article for Wiki
Hi List, I have been asked in this thread if I would contribute an article on iptables to the Wiki: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=10240&forum=37 The article would be based on a tutorial I have previously written here: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=432469 I'm not sure where the article should best go so leave that to your discretion. If you

becoming root
Hi List, I've just drafted a FAQ/mini-HOWTO on becoming root as this is a topic I see come up time and time again. Perhaps someone with a reasonable understanding could check it for technical correctness, and if anyone would like to offer comments/feedback?? Any suggestions as to where might be an appropriate home for this on the Wiki? Regards, Ned (attached below)

Short postgrey guide?
Hi Guys, Are you interested in a brief guide on how to set up postgrey (anti-spam greylisting) with postfix? I set it up today and it took me a while to get it working as the config is slightly different from that on many of the googled guides (many are debian/ubuntu based). The darn config file lives in /etc/sysconfig on RH/CentOS rather than /etc/default as mentioned in all the guides I

Simple postfix/dovecot guide?
Hi List, Would the Wiki be interested in a very simple guide to setting up postfix/dovecot? I'm no expert, but have been learning postfix recently, and would be more than happy to write one based on my own setup/experience. As there's so many different scenarios for which postfix could be configured, I'm thinking just a basic guide for a working mail server to get new users up

Reporting for Duty.
Hello to the AdminGroup, >From what I have been told (by a very reliable source (AY)), I should direct this for the attention of Ralph. In the nicest possible way, Community members Akemi and Ned (aka toracat and NedSlider) have been twisting my arm to get me to agree to join the Wiki editors. Being susceptible to the right sort of persuasion, I eventually agreed. Over the last few weeks I

Notification Emails
Does the wiki actually send out emails to KaranbirSingh, RalphAngenendt, RussHerrold, TimVerhoeven, AkemiYagi, NedSlider, AlanBartlett, MarcusMoeller, TimothyLee, LaurentWandrebeck, TimoSchoeler, GaoHu, and AlainRegueraDelgado with every edit? It makes me a little nervous updating the T43 page or my homepage. I don't want to spam anyone. Cheers, Cody Jackson

SELinux
Hi list, I've knocked up a contribution on SELinux here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/SELinux I've tried to pitch it as an introduction for those not already familiar with SELinux but also hopefully a useful reference. I'm relatively new to SELinux and have covered pretty much everything I know to the limits of my limited knowledge. If folks think other material needs to be

SOHO colour laser printer recommendations
Hi List, I'd really appreciate some recommendations for colour laser printers for use with CentOS. It's for light home use with CentOS 5 and CentOS 6 systems. Must have: 1. Colour. Quality not that important as mainly for kids school project type of stuff. 2. Ethernet connectivity - want something I can plug into the network 3. Cheap running costs - don't want to be spending a

amavisd-new, spamassassin and clamav
Hi List, I've been working on documenting an amavisd-new, spamassassin and clamav installation for postfix on CentOS5 with regards to writing this up for the Wiki (with invaluable help from forum member WhatsHisName - thanks!). I hope to make a start on a Wiki page in the next week or so, so if anyone has any experience with this combo and would like to offer advice, tips and

Running the Wine emulator on CentOS 7
Le 07/03/2015 18:24, Ned Slider a ?crit : > I'm guessing you are either going to need to build/install a 32-bit > version of wine or will need to find 64-bit versions of your Windows > applications. Is it possible to build a 32-bit version of Wine on 64-bit CentOS 7 ? A curt "yes" or "no" will do. Eventually I'll RTFM for the details. Cheers, Niki --

el7: Thunderbird?
Hi Folks, Just wondering what Thunderbird users are doing on el7 now it's been removed from the distro? I note EPEL has a thunderbird package but it seems very out of date at version 24.5.0. Version 24.6.0 was released 10 June, nearly 6 weeks ago, and fixed 3 critical security issues. Is this normal for EPEL to be so far behind on security updates? The other alternative seems to be running

FAQs
Hi all, Akemi and I have recently been drafting a few posts for a new forum subsection (Readme First & FAQs) to aid new forums members in getting help. One thing we have noticed is that there are two FAQ repositories, one on the main site and one on the Wiki. Main site FAQs: http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/ Presumably it would be preferable if there was just one, and as the main
