Magazine's that carry CentOS on the cover mounts
hi, I've just come to know that this months LFY Magazine has CentOS on the front covermount ( its been a few months since I spoke to the guys there and completely lost track of the fact that they were still interested in doing this ). I dont see any specific place on the wiki where we might put this sort of info, so I've started a section on the /media/ page. If / When it gets too

moin auth from http-auth

Was just looking at a few things that we might be able to do - and using inherit from http auth might make life a bit easier for us, and users. - KB -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

google translate for missing language pages ?
Can we / should we think about using google translate for offering pages in languages where there is no local translation ? http://biohackers.net/wiki/GoogleTranslate.py { viewable in a normal browser } has a plugin for this! -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

user comments ?
you know what would be really awesome... if we could somehow work out a means for users to leave comments on the wiki pages. That would really rock! -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

guidelines for version specific info on wiki pages
hi Guys, Just wondering if we should have some guidelines as to how version specific information should be handled on the wiki ? One way might be to have a version tag on each page on the top right and indicate what Versions that page is going to work with. Then in the body have a Grey bar to indicate version specific info. But this might get a bit messy. Any other ideas ? - KB --

WebSite Ver 2
No one has really stepped forward to push the website ver2 project forward. So, if it is ok with everyone, I'd like to take that task on. -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

www.centos.org and the wildcard dns
hi guys, At the moment there is a www.centos.org site. There is also a wildcard dns setup that directs anything.centos.org to www.centos.org's content This has a couple of 'issues' with SEO and google sepcifically. The reason we have such low page rank is that google marks all of this as duplicate content. I am sure there are other search engines that do as well ( Bing has a

Request: Page about other lists/ info sources
Hi Guys, can we get a page up somewhere that lists alternative places where a user might be able to go get some help ? Eg. Can we have a section that says : Xen, and then list the Xen mailing lists, and some url's - maybe 3 - 4 to start with. This sort of a thing might itself be a good lead for users on the info hunt. Ideas ? to start with, maybe we can just start off with a list of

install option on wiki homepage
hi, The install option on the wiki homepage looks a bit odd, is it really meant to point at the generic docs landing page for CentOS-5 ? -- Karanbir Singh +44-207-0999389 | http://www.karan.org/ | twitter.com/kbsingh ICQ: 2522219 | Yahoo IM: z00dax | Gtalk: z00dax GnuPG Key : http://www.karan.org/publickey.asc

language support
hi guys, Just to touch base and restart the conversation about language support in the wiki. w.r.t the namespace / urlspace issue - did we finalise / decide on using wiki.centos.org/<lang>/<namespace> ? or is that issue still open to discussion ? Also, are pages in English going to remain as wiki.centos.org/<namespace>/ ? Also, iirc - someone was going to have a go at

network and stability issues
hi Guys, Over the last 24 hours we have had a series of stability issues. First, the DC our mail/lists machine is hosted in had power issues ( Internap LGA9, NY, USA ); then we had a h/w failure and needed a chassis swap ( thanks to the guys in the DC who executed this within minutes ); and we have since again had network issues - although power to the DC and the server seems stable now. OpenNebula on CentOS-6
hi, Some of you might have seen the email on the centos-devel list, for the rest I just wanted to point out that we've been working on getting opennebula ( http://www.opennebula.org/ ) rpms and contextualised images for opennebula available with a very low barrier to entry for CentOS. The 'win' with OpenNebula is that its easy to install, easy to get going, scales well and mostly

long pages
hi guys, some of the pages on the wiki are getting quite large ( eg. http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/BuildingKernelModules ), and its not easy to work out what all might be included in the page, without actually going through most of it ( were going to loose context in this case ) What would be a better option ? to split the pages up into more manageable chunks or to just create an index on
