Kickstarting CentOS 7 VM on CentOS 6 not possible?
Hi, On CentOS 6.7 (all updates) kickstarting a CentOS 7 VM (in the way it always has worked for other versions, incl. Fedora 22 VM's), does not work for me. I use virt-install with a local copy of the "images/pxeboot" tree. It all stops with: ... [ OK ] Reached target Paths. [ OK ] Reached target Basic System. dracut-initqueue[551]: Warning: Could not boot.

kickstart: dracut-initqueue fails due to unresolvable hostname even though network config looks perfectly ok
Hi, kickstarting fails due to problems with host resolution, even though the network seems to be properly configured through DHCP. eno1 and eno2 are both attached to the network, but only eno1 gets an IP via DHCP. Still `curl` cannot resolve the mirror host and the kickstart host during dracut-initqueue: rdsosreport.txt ------------------------------------------------ [...] [ 14.780428]

Centos Stream 9 module list
Hi, When I do "dnf module list --all" on CentOS Stream 8, I also see the stream versions installed by default, e.g. postgresql 10. But on CentOS Stream 9, I only see the newer stream version, like postgresql 15 and nodejs 18 (and not postgresql 13 and nodejs 16). Can anyone explain what's happening here? CentOS 7 install: closest mirror not supported?
Hi, Do CentOS 7 installs not automatically use a closest mirror for installing like Fedora does, or is that due to the way I'm starting the install (virt-install)? Background: I'm trying to find the best way to do installs using basic local media (network install, but *without* the need to download the squashfs.img for every install) but without a full local mirror. On Fedora (25), it

Issues booting centos7 [dracut is failing to enable centos/root, centos/swap LVs]

Initially, I just rebooted from LiveCD and left Grub, kernel and dracut do their job with the defaults, but unfortunately, boot process stops at initrd (dracut) stage with the following error: [ 197.768159] localhost.localdomain dracut-initqueue[252]: Warning: Could > not

Remote X connection to CentOS 5.5 using Xming -ac
Hello, I've rented a dedicated root server (SR7 at strato.de) and would like to run qemu at it, but get the error: # qemu -hda install.img -cdrom install47.iso -boot d Could not initialize SDL - exiting It seems that I have to establish X connection, so I've installed Xming at my WinXP laptop and at the server I have changed these 3 lines in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config: X11Forwarding

dracut-initqueue timeout with virt-install... but it works (kinda?)
Hello, I?m using virt-install to build a guest system with CentOS. The system boots up, times out with dracut-initqueue timeout and drops me into an emergency shell. If I exit the shell the install continues and I get a working machine. Any ideas? virt-install \ -n TEST \ -r 8192 \ --os-type=linux \ --disk=/vm-images/test.img,device=disk,bus=virtio,size=100,format=raw \

Does the rsync/xdelta algorithm *need* to write a new file?
Hello, lately I've been playing with the idea of doing in-place updates of systems using either rsync or xdelta. However, both rsync and xdelta seem to be dead set on writing a new file first, and then atomically exchanging it with the old file. Now, as I want to apply a binary delta to a full filesystem, bigger than the available temporary space, this really makes rsync and xdelta

Calling functions of R from Perl?
Hi, I've already asked this question, but unfortunately I've combined it with another question. So it was ignored in almost all cases. Thanks to those who have already given some hints. Here again: I don't want to use R interactively (issue commands after the prompt > ..), but use some functionality of R from inside a Perl script. Can I use methods of R from a Perl script: Is

mdraid doesn't allow creation: device or resource busy
Dear fellow CentOS users, I have never experienced this problem with hard disk management before and cannot explain it to myself on any rational basis. The setup: I have a workstation for testing, running latest CentOS 7.3 AMD64. I am evaluating oVirt and a storage-ha as part of my bachelors thesis. I have already been running a RAID1 (mdraid, lvm2) for the system and some oVirt 4.1 testing.

kickstart: dracut-initqueue fails due to unresolvable hostname even though network config looks perfectly ok
This problem still bites us. I've tried to play around with DHCP settings (rd.net.timeout.dhcp, rd.net.dhcp.retry) to no avail. I'm happy about /any/ hint.
