Re: Exchange Server in DMZ (Tom Eastep)
Hello, First my apologies .. I have had the flu for days and I am still groggy .. So when I replied the whole message it must have been the drugs in my system .. :-) Second my apologies .. Steve had answered this question already quite well along the same lines as myself .. I just had not read BOTH digests first .. Francesca C. Smith Lady Linux Internet Services 1801 Bolton Street # 1

Sourceforge updates, webmin
Great piece of software there... Just a few minor problems. First, the sourceforge site doesn''t seem to be kept up to date. This should be pointed out more (Sourceforge probably shouldn''t be the first mirror either). It caused me some long hours trying to solve a bug in 1.4.6, thinking this was the latest version, when in fact this bug was solved in 1.4.8 (routeback for if+).

Re: Shorewall development web site (Mike Noyes)
Hello, I leave for a couple days .. (Well months) and look at what has happened. :-) I would throw my support in behind Xoops .. to be honest .. If a portal is what we are trying to achieve here. I just happen to think that sometimes .. More work goes into web design etc than goes into actual Code. But thats because I am a lamer at web design :-) I am coming in here a bit late .. But tell

Warning! Webmin Security Advisory
The last version of Webmin has an error which allows users to both guess the valid usernames and attempt brute force password attacks against machines running webmin. I have already informed the developers of webmin, and they have released an update which fixes the problems described below. It is available at the URL at the end of this document. Details follow: DESCRIPTION ----------- 1) If

Webmin Shorewall Patch
My description of the incorrect use of the term ''SNAT'' on the Static NAT Webmin page was apparently misunderstood. Attached is a patch against the Webmin-1.070 Shorewall module that corrects this problem and also adds the ''DNAT-'' action for rules. To apply the patch, you will need the ''patch'' utility: cd <webmin shorewall directory - on

Controlling Dovecot with Webmin
Dear Sir I have just setup a Fedora 4SE server, with Webmin - latest production release and Dovecot .99.14. The only way to start dovecot is to be logged into the server as root - locally or ssh, and type the dovecot command. >From Webmin - logged in as ROOT, when I attempt to start Dovecot it tells me that it can't because it can not open the config file - permission denied. Webmin module
Hi on the download site for asterisk, there is one directory called webmin and I presume that this contains a webmin module for Asterisk, yet this doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. Is this unfinished work in progress? typically webmin modules are in form of .wbm packages that can be installed using webmin itself, but I couldn't find any such module in the webmin directory nor

Update on Using Dovecot with Webmin
First of all thanks for the replies. I have decided to try the updated version 1.0 alpha After uninstalling Dovecot .99 and cleaning up user, groups and files. (Dovecot .99 was authenticating as best I can tell using unix users = the default -- and PAM = the default - I only had to setup the PAM if I remember correctly. Loaded Dovecot 1.0, made sure user, folders and files all seem to be

webmin/usermin and winbind authentication
Hi all! I wonder is it possible to authenticate webmin/usermin users via winbind? I tried to convert users from Unix to webmin users but it failed: user did not show up. Well, more likely I have a need for usermin authentication but I suppose that they function like same.. I have no local users (expect one) and all user information comes from NT PDC. All other auths like pop or login works

SELinux question - to fix bug in Webmin
I found a bug in Webmin when using Webmin with SELinux in Permissive Mode. The author of Webmin, asked me, in their bug tracker on SourceForge: > Ok, thanks ... I see the problem. Re: Exchange Server in DMZ (i-hacked.com)
Hiya, My two cents here .. I use a locked down Linux Sendmail relay (use sendmail null-client feature on any spare old server or PC) in my DMZ to relay Mail to the exchange server in my local zone. Its sort of the moat you have to cross over to get at the castle walls and the hot oil dumped on your head approach. Francesca C. Smith Lady Linux Internet Services 1801 Bolton Street # 1 Baltimore,

Webmin and Redirect
I''m having problems using shorewall webmin module and Redirect rules. Webmin module does NOT accept the symbol ! in the field "Destination address for DNAT or REDIRECT". So the example that comes in rule file to redirect www from local zone to 3128 port can only be included manualy. The example suggest to exclude the fw ip addres " !192.168.2.2 " Shorewall version:
