Prioritizing traffic
I don''t know whether this is the right place to ask, but kindly point me to an FM that I can R if it isn''t. My wife is creating lots of Kazaa traffic, and I am using rsync to create a full mirror of Red Hat''s FTP site, Aurora Linux FTP site, the LDP site, and some other stuff. Clearly, when one is moving well over 100GB over a 128 Kbps link, this is going to take a

example code with streaming?
Hello, I'm looking at vorbis for sending live audio over a network. This would probably be running on an embedded system (some challenges there, but that's ok). I've used the encoder example to get things compiling/running with sample data, but it seems to file based. Is there an example for streaming live audio? A secondary problem I may be running into is the amount of time to

Oops
Hello everybody, I've my Gentoo's /usr/portage on a loopback btrfs. Just wanted to sync and got an oops. I've a rsync and a ls process in status D now. The system has been in suspend (tuxonice 3.0-rc3) with mounted btrfs, perhaps that is related? New video card; wine freezing
Hello, I want to play Eve Online in Wine. It was working (mostly) on my old card, a GTX 280, using the nvidia driver. It was the 3rd card I've had from Nvidia in a row with manufacturing defects, so I bought a Radeon 6870, which is working good except with Wine. I am using fglrx, and have a dual head setup using xrandr. When I log in, I get to the screen where it is entering the game after I

rsync --delete isn't deleting files
I had this working on an older version, since 2.6.9 that when I set --delete and --dry-run, I get no "Deleting ******" lines. Also, the --delete-before never worked for me. Working on a space constrained mirror, this has proven very handy, when it works. What's up with the new versions? I haven't changed a thing. Best regards, Tiago Marques

Mass "require"s
Hi there, I want to manage some files with puppet that control the installation of packages in Gentoo (/etc/make.conf, /etc/portage/*). These files must be downloaded to the client before any package resource is processed, so they are installed correctly. Is there any way to do this? Possible solutions: 1. Include in *every* package require => [ list of files ] inside a case statement, so

An offer: R packages in Gentoo Land?
Greetings. I love R, we run Gentoo. I want to maintain R packages in the same methods I use for the rest of them; in Gentoo this is in "the portage tree", or in "a portage overlay". I am working towards something I consider suitable for production release, and wanted to ask if there are conventional blessings which I ought to ask of the R-devel folks; How does this usually

PuppetReporting
hi I''ve read about PuppetReporting at the Trac website. Apparently you are working on integrating the benchmark tests for every type in ruby. Do you have any idea when this will all get implemented? This is a crucial part (and actually a necessary feature) in the configuration management system we have set up using Puppet. grtz Koen Vereeken
