R 3.1.2 for Debian jessie/testing available on CRAN
Dear Johannes, Thanks a lot for this work! I have to admit that I'm now a little bit puzzled, though. I'm running Debian Jessie (current testing) with great satisfaction. When it comes to R, I simply have the SID repository (official Debian) enabled, with some pining to get only R-related stuff. Now, I'm not sure to understand the benefit of using the CRAN repository for Jessie?I

R 3.1.2 for Debian jessie/testing available on CRAN
Thanks Johannes to clarify this point. It makes more sense to me now. So I understand that the idea is to make it simpler without apt-pinning for less adventurous people (I mean normal people :)): just add jessie-cran3 repo and you're good to go. Am I also correct that jessie-cran3 is essentially a backport of Debian SID, with some (short?) delay? In other words, modulo a couple of days,

R installation problems on Linux Mint 18.1 via jessie-cran3
Okay folks, I give up and - frankly - I'm fed up! I thought I'd sorted all this last week, but clearly not. I've tried using mirrors from here in the UK, Ireland, France and the USA and whichever mirror I use, all I get is this: clive at climate ~ $ sudo apt-get update Hit:1 http://ubuntu.mirrors.uk2.net/ubuntu xenial InRelease Ign:2 http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb stable

Sometimes commands do not terminate after upgrading to R 4.0 and Ubuntu 20.04
I have upgraded R (from 3.6 to 4.0) and RStudio (from 1.1 to 1.2.5) a few days ago, and Ubuntu from 18.04 to 20.04 yesterday. Since then, R sometimes never terminates when executing certain commands: ivreg (from package AER), summary (of a logit regression) and logitmfx (from package mfx). Sometimes these commands run fine, but most of the time I have to kill the process because R won't

Yes, but beware that I only do backports of the packages listed in the Debian README on CRAN. Kind regards, Johannes Am Donnerstag, 26. Problems Updating R version on Debian testing
I am trying to update R on debian testing and am getting the following error from the package manager. Do I need to change the website link? R 3.1.2 for Debian jessie/testing available on CRAN
Dear Mathieu, dear list, if you have successfully set up apt pinning for R packages, then you have the most up-to date Debian packages for R at your fingertips. I set up the repository for Debian jessie so people do not have to use apt pinning in order to get Debian 3.1.2 on jessie. Plus, when jessie is released, the repository is already there, and after the release of jessie it is likely

clean wheezy, R intrigue, squeeze-cran3 requires liblzma2?
Hi. On the release version of Debian Wheezy, I am missing symbols for left and right brackets in plotmath. Anybody see similar trouble while reviewing demo(plotmath)? This is a completely clean, fresh install. I've not installed any peculiar libraries or packages, except R, the installation of which still puzzles me. I configured a CRAN mirror for packages using squeeze-cran3 folder, and

rhub vs. CRAN fedora-*-devel, using armadillo & slapack
Thank you for your answer. In facts, 10 threads are asked by armadillo for some LinAlg, which backs to two threads as warned. But I cannot imagine this costs so much time just for that... A deeper analysis of time spent seems to point that a large time was mainly spent on testthat and Rcpp dependencies compilation... But other recent packages depending on these also are not spending so much time.
