Open source streaming project in need of developers
Hi, You didn't describe much of your bugs or the specific features of your playout system... It seems to me that it'd be best to focus new efforts on the automated scheduler pickings songs from the database. In that area there is no really good open-source solution as far as I know. There are only several specialized solutions. Playout is quite independent from scheduling: streamers can

Fading between songs
Hi: To do fading, you'll need to use a source that will: 1. Decode your songs 2. Do the necessary crossfading 3. Re-encode the stream and send it to icecast. right now, I know of no streamer that will do this. I'm aware of a very comprehensive package under development, but there's no public access to it yet that I know of. Note that there are strong feelings on both sides as

But you're right about the bugs. The critical (i.e. urgent) ones in no particular order: 1. PRS will disconnect from Icecast after a certain amount of time

No audio with slackware for live station
Hello, hmmmm sweet problem. All I can recommend you is have you tried another player? I've heard that WinAmp3 has certain problems with .ogg streaming. No other idea :(. OddCastDSP & SQRSoft crossfader problem
I've not had a reply on the OddSock forum so I'll try here. I am attempting to use the OddCastDSP Winamp2 plugin via the (free) SQRSoft Advanced Crossfading output plugin (http://www.sqrsoft.com.ar/en/plugins.html). This is necessary to provide intelligent crossfading which sounds very professional. I've not heard of any other crossfading algorithm that works so well. It uses the

no audio until icecast / ices is ended
Please bear with me as I am an absolute newbie at this stuff :- o/s FreeBSD 4.6 stable (i386) pentium III 500 386mb ram scsi disks. Ices 0.2.3 compiled from source Icecast 1.3.12 I am trying to stream mp3 to my own lan. Ices and Icecast both seem to start quite happily, I can access the admin interface and when a client connects I can see that a client has connected. However, when I connect

I have an Icecast server and an Asterisk dialplan containing a call to ICES(/my/ices.xml). So Asterisk launches "ices /my/ices.xml" where /my/ices.xml contains: <input> <module>stdinpcm</module> <param name="rate">8000</param> <param name="channels">1</param> </input> and <encode>

Building Linux Audio Streaming server
Hello... Thanks fo your contributions...The port 8000 was actually opened, but i was using wrong command to see it opened. The server is working. I want also to be able to stream MP3 files, does icecast 2 support that? Let say if i use darkice instead of ices? Also, it seems like icecast2 doesn't support multicasting, what third party software do i need in order to be able to multicast my

Building Linux Audio Streaming server
Hello... I'm building a Linux audio streaming server using icecast 2. I've installed all necessary packages (including icecast, ices, libshout, Ogg Vorbis libraries, and other libraries required by icecast). The problem i'm getting is that after running the server, and try command netstat -n(to check network status), the port 8000 is not opened (while it expected to be opened). What
