Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect - More
I am trying to determine exactly what the difference in Burst-on-Connect is between SHOUTcast and Icecast2. There are a number of players that are having difficulty with the Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect feature. To determine where the problem might be, I tried to lower the burst-size to 32768, but doing so will not allow sources to connect to the Icecast2 server. Anyone know what accepted

Disable Burst-on-Connect
I am trying to narrow-down a problem with VLC Player and I would like to temporarily disable burst-on-connect. I have set this to 0, but it doesn't seem to disable. <burst-on-connect>0</burst-on-connect> <burst-size>65535</burst-size> http://stream.orban.com:80/eval Any ideas? Thanks. -greg.

Icecast2 Player Protocol
Mike- There are some differences in the way the metadata is handled between SHOUTcast and Icecast2. This, I believe is the primary reason why player developers get SHOUTcast streams to play but not necessarily Icecast2. VLC and BetaPlayer are perfect examples of this. I have been doing some testing with BetaPlayer on a Verizon Wirelss CE device, and unfortunately Icecast2 streams

Disable Burst-on-Connect
Thanks Karl- Setting the burst-size to 0 does indeed disable Burst-on-Connect. FYI: I have verified that disabling Burst-on-Connect allows VLC Player to play Icecast2 streams. I am notifying the VLC developers of this, so hopefully they can support Burst-on-Connect Icecast2 streams. SHOUTcast burst seems to work just fine, so maybe it won't be such a big problem to fix. Icecast2 Server - AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus Support
Hello- You guys have done an excellent job with the Icecast2 server. I probably don't need to tell you that, but I did anyway. We are Coding Technologies licensees and have recently developed a streaming audio encoder supporting AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus using RTSP/RTP, SHOUTcast HTTP/ICY, and Icecast2 HTTP/ICY, Orban Opticodec-PC. IceCast 2.2 MP3 stream and Real Player noise
Two other players that I am aware of that have Icecast2 issues have been VLC and CoreCodec BetaPlayer. I have been in contact with both developer paths and set up test streams for them in an attempt to get this fixed. CoreCodec is in the process of making the necessary changes. I do not know about VLC. I was never able to get confirmation. -greg. At 09:05 2005-06-08, Karl Heyes wrote:

Player Problems
Hi Everyone, Has anyone come across problems listening back to Mp3 streams using VLC? The reason I ask is that we [ResonanceFM] stream at 128K and at 24K (using two different Icecast instances). All players (Zinf, Winamp, Media Player etc) can play both streams bar VLC which seems to exhibt a skipping (i.e like the sound of a CD) problem when playing the 24K stream. Incidently it plays the 128

king fm m3u streams
Hi, Thanks, that helps. What I really want however, is an MP3 stream that can play on a WI-FI mp3 player. I know the m3u streams, but they wont play. I can find the stream for the regular KING HD-1, but not for opera or evergreen. FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
A FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for Microsoft Windows Media Player that fully supports the Icecast2 Server is available for download here: http://www.orban.com/plugin FYI: This plugin supports .asx for Windows Media Player NOT .pls or .m3u. Also streams can be opened directly by using newly created UIL redirectors, e.g., icyx:// instead of http:// and rtpx:// instead of rtsp://. This is all covered

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp. Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict. This might actually be by design. I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow. I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete clarification. FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac or aacp. aac is

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
Ok, I read the Read Me. So icyx://boa.mediacast1.com:9292/stream.aac works. I don't understand why the http syntax cannot be made to work. This works fine for Ogg Vorbis streams using the Illumination DirectShow filter. How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
Hi Rob The stream format has nothing to do with your audio files. I probably have 70% MP3's and 30% Ogg Vorbis files, and 1 or 2 WAV files for jingles on my hard drive. I only encode new CD's to Ogg Vorbis. But my station is streaming in AAC+ format, and I have also streamed in Ogg Vorbis format simultaneously. There is no way I would bother streaming in MP3 format. It's 15+

IntroFile Feature Request for Icecast2 Server
Would it be possible to add IntroFile support (like SHOUTcast) to Icecast2, to play an intro file upon connection to a live stream without having to re-buffer between file and subsequent live stream? If this is already supported, please excuse the request, and explain the configuration. Thanks. -greg. __________________________________________________________________________ Greg J.
