Wont Stream
Hello,
I have just setup an Icecast server on a FreeBSD box. Everything was setup
fine, and the server runs fine. It will accept shoutcast connections and
stream them fine - so there is no problem with that.
The problem is streaming Icecast. I am using the OGGDSP plugin for Winamp 3
and when I connect it - it will look as though everything is connected but
there is no lights flashing on my

Sorry for the long rave.

I mentioned this 1 or 2 years back but it's still not fixed. I presume it's
a Icecast2 server problem. I'm using the latest Oddcast client, and
my server host Mediacast1 has just updated to the latest Icecast2.
I'm currently streaming a track in Vorbis format called:
M?ire Brennan - I L?thair D?
It shows this correctly in Winamp on the broadcast PC.
On the Icecast Status page,

Multiple Winamp/Oddcast processes
Hello Oddsock and interested parties.
Our first multiple stream test broadcast today on one PC and found one
problem with the Oddcast plugin.
We have multiple Winamps installed in separate folders and are loading each
Winamp with a different Windows class name, so that each one may be
controlled with external software via Windows messages.
The problem is that all streams are sending the same

after almost a week of trial and error, i''ve finally got a hold of

not quite sure if i can make it work the way i want it to.
i was basically trying to create a login portal so that the users at our
company can have one place to login for all of our internal
applications. well, right now - i can have each

darkice client for windows
oddcast DSP is what you want, it supports live input (called Advanced Recording) and does support streaming to Peercast...It currently does not support Vorbis metadata for live recording (since metadata for vorbis streaming is inserted into the ogg stream, as opposed to how it's done for mp3 in which the metadata is updated on the server via URL calls)...
anyway, it's the closest thing to

You can only select one output plugin in Winamp and that needs to the
the SQRSoft one, not the Null output plugin. The audio needs to pass

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I'm not sure if this is an icecast issue or oddcast issue or both, but
the latest Winamp (v5.22) is not now playing AAC+ streams encoded with
Oddcast. Winamp v5.21 and earlier versions work fine. This may be some
attempt by Winamp developers to force people to use Shoutcast, or to
prevent oddcast from using their enc_aacplus.dll.
Right, just took some time to set up the Shoutcast DSP to

How to complie Icecast2 on Win32
Ok. Now it will run. But when i try to play back my stream(either
ogg/vorbis or mp3) it sounds like the chipmunks. Could it be that I'm
broadcasting at a sample rate of 22050 in mono? This shouldn't make a
difference as the source is also 22050 samplerate and mono(its the
line-in plugin for winamp). I'm using Winamp 2.81 with the is the
Oddcast DSP for Winamp 2.xx plugin to

Oddcast not working with WinAmp 5.01
I recently reformatted & reinstalled Windows98. Oddly, only now after a
fresh re-install has Oddcast been behaving badly with WinAmp 5.01.
It shows up in the DSP catagory as a mirror of the previous plugin, plus
"[dsp_oddcast_v2.dll]". I know Oddcast isn't configurable by the WinAmp
Configure Plugin button, but it shouldn't give this message when I try:

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

Oddcast suggestion
This kind of behavior (on demand live streaming) is not supported by either
oddcast or icecast2, and honestly, really shouldn't be...In your situation,
I'd consider doing something closer to what live365 did back in the day to
address this particular issue, which is store all their content locally on
their servers, and basically build playlists that are customed for each user.

Oddcast suggestion
Hmm, maybe it could work somehow if we're using quality-based VBR-
encoding? If you have silence only very few bandwidth is needed.
But I really personally dislike all these VBR-things ... so thats why
I would never try implementing it :-)
If you want to try to do it this way you might have to write a dsp-
plugin that loads Oddcast DSP "behind" itself and passes audio
through.

icecast2, ogg, mp3, etc
Hi,
Just wanted to clarify, can icecast2 not read OR broadcast any mp3, or
can it just not broadcast mp3 (but still play from a playlist)? I know the
quality would be dropped if it had to reencode them though.
And what's up with that POS Winamp3, it doesn't even play gg streams?!?
I use xmms, but we have winamp3 on a demo computer, it just sits and keeps
prebuffering. I need something

Icecast winamp oddcast mountpoint problem?
Hi there!
I'm new to the list and I'm experiencing somekind of problem. I have installed icecast 1.3.12 as a OpenBSD 3.2 port. I use winamp (on win2000) for encoding with muchFX and 4 oddcast DSP plugins for different streams. Streams are mounted in /low /medium /high /vh mount points. From icecast logfiles it seems that everything is working ok. When I try to connect with a client
