Pathing syntax for icecast.xml in Windows
Marvin,
Ah, thank you for clarifying where "webroot" is.
The application here will be a non-public stream with one listener
client. Icecast is hosted on a computer at our radio station. It will
receive a stream from a stream client at a remote live music event.
There will be one listener: a media player running on another computer
on the network at the station which will send the

Pathing syntax for icecast.xml in Windows
Hi Marvin, thank you.
Okay, then to be clear, "webroot" for the purposes of running Icecast
under Windows would be the same folder where icecast.xml is normally
found, i.e., C:\Program Files\icecast
And, if I read you correctly, suppose my normal mount coming from my
source client is called /example (it is an mp3 stream so I don't
specify the extension). If I place a file

UTF-8 & Hebrew
Sorry if this is offtopic.
My Win32 comment editor uses a routine of my own to read comments
directly from OGG files but uses vorbiscomment.exe to write comments.
I've implemented a UTF-8 function which I found on the internet to
decode UTF-8. It appears to be working fine for most European
characters, however, I have a Russian user using WinXP who is entering
Hebrew characters such as

Icecast install under Windows
Hi Marvin,
I followed the wiki instructions and they went w/o any issues until
C:\Users\username> nssm start Icecast
Can't open service!
OpenService(): Access is denied!
Probably a good idea to mention that the command window needs to be Run
as administrator. Then it works.
Many thanks!

Icecast install under Windows
Ok. I installed icecast win_32 2.4.1 with no problem. The problems arrive when I try changing things...
Why are the folders for icecast write protected? I made changes to the icecast.xml file & tried saving it, but got errors saying the file is read only!
Then, I scanned the sub-folders in the download folder & found another icecast.xml file! I couldn't make changes that either!

Pathing syntax for icecast.xml in Windows
Hi Philipp,
Thank you.
I find in the Icecast docs the following:
"_A fallback mount can also state a file that is located in webroot._
This is useful for playing a pre-recorded file in the case of a stream
going down. It will repeat until either the listener disconnects or a
stream comes back available and takes the listeners back. As per usual,
the file format should match the stream

Icecast install under Windows
Thanks, Albert, for the help on the IP address!
I'm not sure what you mean about the Windows server. I'm running Windows 8.1 on my PC that runs the radio station...
I figured out that the icecast.xml file in the sub-folder is the one that the icecast GUI uses for configuration.

I mentioned this 1 or 2 years back but it's still not fixed. I presume it's
a Icecast2 server problem. I'm using the latest Oddcast client, and
my server host Mediacast1 has just updated to the latest Icecast2.
I'm currently streaming a track in Vorbis format called:
M?ire Brennan - I L?thair D?
It shows this correctly in Winamp on the broadcast PC.
On the Icecast Status page,

I agree it sucks. I would switch to the only Windows player that seems to
work properly -- Foobar2000 if it offered the same sort of control/API from
external programs.

I would like to have a private signal, which can only be tuned by whoever
has the username and password, and know who is connected. But I wish the
URL could be delivered with the username and password, to open it directly
on a player or receiving device... Thanks.

Icecast install under Windows
Oh dear.
Okay, can anyone suggest how to install Icecast under Windows as a
service, and to be able to bring up some kind of console to start/stop it?
I can launch Icecast using the installed .bat file, but it's clunky.

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

Hi Dave,
I installed it one month ago and was very surprised by the sound quality.
The stream seemed to sound better in Quintessential than in Winamp.

Stream playback issue
Can anyone tell me why this AAC+ Icecast stream will not play.
http://s2.stationplaylist.com:7014/listen.aac.m3u
The Icecast Server web page looks fine with a 64k stream.
We host a small number of streams and other 64k AAC+ streams are working
fine but this one won't play in any player.
Thanks,
Ross.

vorbis winamp plugin
Hi
I've developed a player that utilizes winamp input plugins for decoding
audio to PCM. I'm going to include an open source mp3 input plugin,
in_mpg123.dll, and I'm wanting an open source in_vorbis.dll as well.
One question. Since vorbis is open source, would it break any rules to
distribute the in_vorbis.dll included with Winamp? I presume so but
thought I would ask.

HTTP authentication
Yes, it is the first thing I have tried, but I have encountered this
problem. If I enable option <option name="allow_duplicate_users"
value="1"/>, it works fine. But if set to 0, to limit one connection per
user, it does not work properly and forces you to manually enter the data
again. It seems that there are players who make 2 requests, and being
limited to 1, makes the
