Re What HTML5 radio player do you use ?
Its seem to be ok in here.
Also, i would suggest giving http://jplayer.org/ a try, provides fallback
solutions as well as customization options and large active community.

Making a smooth transition between sources?
I have a Flash player on my page - so that explains it.
Is there some sort of in-browser player I can use that doesn't have this
property?
That leads to another good question - how can I create a link on my page
that opens itunes directly? I have a link to a .pls file - but that
downloads a file that then has to be opened to open itunes...

What HTML5 radio player do you use ?
Hi , We think about updating our current flash based player [1] to a HTML5
one that would magically work on any mobile or desktop browser (So with
flash fallback) to play our icecast streams ( MP3 + OGG [2] )
It would be great if the stream could start instantly.
What do you use currently to achieve this ?

Icecast AAC FLV Container
Hello,
I am using Icecast v2.4.1 to to stream AAC audio to web clients through
jPlayer. If HTML5 is not supported then it uses Flash Player.
The problem is that Flash player does not play AAC streams as is, and from
a quick google search someonw suggested I append "?type=.flv" to the url. I
cannot make it work though as whatever I request, I get a response with
mime type

Hi I think a part of your story was not clear :
- You talk about an "upgrade" , it's an upgrade of icecast ? the OS icecast
is running on ? Your HTML5 web player ?

Questions about ICAST and Web Development
-HOW does ICECAST stream content?
-Can it stream sound being spoken live over a microphone?
-Can this live audio be streamed in an MP3 format?
-Can this audio be streamed to HTTP Web browsers (including XMLHttpRequest techniques)?
-How does an HTML file being served by Apache/Tomcat best set up
so that the browser can correctly accept sound from ICECAST?
