Ice Cast Limited to 1019 connections
Hi All, I've got a strange problem with Centos 5.9 64bit running Ice Cast, soon as the server hit 1019 connections it dies. Set the fs-file-max to 65535 and added in hard & soft no files to 655535 yet still not joy. (Ice Cast listeners are set to over 5K connections) Has anyone come across this problem? Kind Regards, Mike

MFC/R2
Hi all, I have begun the release of my MFC/R2 protocol software. At http://www.opencall.org/installing-mfcr2.html there are instructions for installing what I have released so far. This is the MFC/R2 protocol software, and a test program. The software to interface Asterisk to the MFC/R2 code will be released shortly. It used to work, but it hasn't been touched for a while, and Asterisk

[XCP] IPtables firewall - safe to disable?
I noticed that XCP has what looks like the default RHEL/CentOS firewall rules running. Is it safe (from the perspective of no loss of functionality) to disable iptables? I''ve done it already and can''t see any noticeable impact.. Thanks!

Fault tolerant architecture
Hi, I'm new to this list and want your help. I'm the mail admin for some domains in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. Today we have only one machine running dovecot (imap+pop3) with local mail. We are migrating to two virtual machines in kvm running in separate hosts. Then we have two main problems: - How to share mail files to both dovecots? We've been thinking about NFS using local indexes.

Is it possible to conditionally replace a file ?
As far as I can tell, the "replace" parameter is all or nothing. What I am looking for is something like the exec/onlyif parameter that I can use to conditionally replace a file. Any thoughts ? “Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.” Bill Waterson (Calvin & Hobbes) -- You received this

fitting a gompertz model through the origin using nls
Dear all! I tried to fit Gompertz growth models to describe cummulative germination rates using nls. I used the following code: germ.model<-nls(percent.germ~a*exp(-b*exp(-k*day)),data=tab,start=list(a=100,b=10,k=0.5)) My problem is that I want that the fitted model goes through the origin, since germination cannot start before the experiment was started, and y-max should be 100. Does anyone
