16bit vs. 24bit
I bought this recently http://www.amazon.com/Tascam-US-100-USB-Audio-Interface/dp/B002QQC1ZI But i have been thinking maybe it would have been better to get a 24bit version http://tascam.com/product/us-600/images/ I guess i am streaming at a lower quality, but if i were recording the 24 bit would be better no? Thoughts? -winn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

Recording piano and voice

Forcing a sspecific stream type
That is transcoding. If you are attempting to achieve good audio quality, this is exactly what you don?t want to do. This is like taking a .jpg and making another .jpg from it. /greg. Stereo voice not being retained
Hello, I've been using Opus on an STM32 M4 platform for speech coding in mono mode. I thought I'd try stereo for grins to see if I can handle the CPU load, and I'm getting a return code of -1 from opus_decode_float (using CBR and 40ms frames). I decided to try the opusenc and opusdec tools to just see how the command line apps would behave. I am getting decoded audio, but I am

Cool Mic (Android vorbis live source client) beta available
works ;) ideas and observations: - show also bitrates insted of ogg quality settings only - maybe a more consistent handling of the back button, i.e. when in menus - seems i can't stop broadcasting ... ? "Stop Broadcast" doesn't do anything, only "Quit" stops it. - an reliable indicator that we're broadcasting (the red flashing appeared only once, now it shows

Cool Mic (Android vorbis live source client) beta available
Thank you all so far for the feedback. I've forwarded this to my dev team, right now they are working on improvements based on what I've received so far. I'll keep list updated on progress and new versions if that doesn't seem to spammy. My goal is for Cool Mic to be the most stable and functional (and open source!) Android source client for Icecast that supports open codecs.

How do I stop status.xsl
So how does this work? Are you prompted with a password-only dialog, then what you type in has to match the value in htpasswd? Icecast-dev Digest, Vol 158, Issue 1
"i have got a big problem with ssl cert for icecast2. I've got 3 files from provider. I've made one .pem file from this, but icecast can't read the certyficate." #1) Yep, throw that key away yesterday, and never share the private key with anyone. #2) You sure you concatenated the full cert chain PLUS the private key file in PEM format? I did just that and it works fine.

Configure Ubuntu Server 16.04 for icecast2
Those speed tests are best case scenario - one big old file where the only overhead would be tcp syn/acks. 5000 x syn/acks and handshakes everytime a client connects would quite a lot of overhead I imagine. Note that this is an educated guess - I don't run /anything/ on the scale of 5000 users lol ---- Jordan Erickson wrote ---- >Hi Frederick, > >Wouldn't overhead (at least

Streaming issue with IOS and Safari
We had only MP3 for a long time, and all iOS users could listen. I don't think iOS likes OGG. We also advertise the VLC app in case someone has an issue with the web player. Stereo voice not being retained
Hey Kevin! Once you start dropping under (I think) 32kbps, the codec naturally starts losing stereo separation for the benefit of quality. If you really want perfect stereo at 16kbps CBR (this is horrifically low in my opinion) you might be better off splitting the audio and encoding each part at 8kbps CBR. Or, there may be a magic "enforce 100% stereo" one could pass? (doesn't look

Hello Thanks for the replies. I apologize for the rash statements but, not an excuse but an explanation, I was working for about a week and a half to get this to work without any success. Checked every post related to Icecast and read the manuals but nothing came up to resolve this. I did try try to remove the xsl from the site but that just gave me a 400 unknown admin request error. I also

Unicast or Multicast?
Oh, well by your "In the end... its the same..." statement and your question of what the difference is (and mentioning connection tracking which is a completely different subject), I was a bit confused as to your query.
