Windows Media Player
i had a similar problem few weeks ago. ices 0.4, icecast 2.2 wmp buffered endless. other players had no problem. solution for me was to explicitly set the type of stream in ices, e.g. "-t http" on the command line or in the config file. uno Karl Heyes: > On Mon, 2005-05-23 at 00:09, Jason wrote: > > I'm having a problem with WMP and icecast 2.2.0. MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Did you really see meta-data? Or did it show data from the playlist- file? Or did you see the data (name and genre) provided in the http- header upon connect? E.g.: http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast- playlist.pls?rn=4219&file=filename.pls Shows "CLUB 977 The 80s Channel (HIGH BANDWIDTH)" in WinAmp. But this is due to the "title" set in the .pls and/or provided in

a few more questions...
WMP will play a normal icecast mp3 feed. Thats one of the reasons I use MP3 because everything will play it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Smith" <msmith@xiph.org> To: "Michael Hale" <giftculture@gmail.com> Cc: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Thursday, September 01, 2005 5:03 AM Subject: Re: [Icecast] a few more questions... > Mike > >

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Stephan, I am talking about the meta-data: Artist - Song. It's weird because you are the second person on the list who doesn't get it working in Real... I just tried again with "BEK_dns" and "Radio Alcanzando Naciones" the 2 first MP3 radios I found in the stream directory and everything worked perfectly for Real (but not for WMP). In RealPlayer, I clicked

IceCast 2.2 MP3 stream and Real Player noise
Two other players that I am aware of that have Icecast2 issues have been VLC and CoreCodec BetaPlayer. I have been in contact with both developer paths and set up test streams for them in an attempt to get this fixed. CoreCodec is in the process of making the necessary changes. I do not know about VLC. I was never able to get confirmation. -greg. At 09:05 2005-06-08, Karl Heyes wrote:

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody, It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2 and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...). Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't use ICY/X-audiocast. Talking about Real (v9.0 and 10), I already got the

Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
At my company we have a bunch of music in FLAC format. We want to play it using the Windows Media Player, but none of us can get the illiminable DS filters to work. Here are some details. Illiminable DS filters http://www.wmplugins.com/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemID=681 http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/ We are using the latest build available on this website, and I have read all the known issues. Maybe it works with WinAmp because peercast is received via a plugin that supports this? http://www.peercast.org/download.php WinAmp 2.x/5.x: - Self-extracting installer - Installs WinAmp plugin client - Enables peercast:// links - Free. No adware/spyware Allan, I assume you have a plugin installed for listening to peercast? Stefan On 7 Apr 2004 at 21:21, oddsock wrote: > At 08:30 PM

WMP blues :^(
Hello Everybody, I'm having the strangest problem getting WMP 10 to stream from my icecast server. I'm currently serving two streams - one is a 128kbit/s mp3 stream, the other is a 32kbit/s mp3 stream Even when explicitly declaring the stream type to be http in icecast.xml , the 32kbit/s stream buffers *VERY* slowly (it takes about 3-5 min) in WMP before finally playing.

Vorbis in Windows Media Player 9, (partial) success
As I said on http://wiki.xiph.org/ClientSupport I managed to get WMP9 under Windows 2003 to work with OGG vorbis files. Requisite : OggDS 0.9.9.5 - they can be opened with the Open... dialog and WMP does not complain any more that it is an unsupported file format - they can be dragged from explorer into WMP and WMP will play them without any complaint - they can be added to the media library.

Re: Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
Thanks Christian. Now I can play my FLAC files with WiMP. I uninstalled the illuminable package and then installed the Matroska. The result was the opposite that I got for the illuminable: the illuminable package registered the types but WiMP couldn't find the codecs, the Matroska didn't register the types but it did make the codecs available. This is much preferable of course
