ices, name of current song
hi probably a simple question, but what commandline switch on ices will make freeamp/winamp display the name of the currently playing SONG? -n seems to name the stream, which is useful, but i'd realy like the display to be the sing, no the stream...? thx --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this

Song Requests and etc.
I've been using Shoutcast and Winamp for over a year now, but I've decided because of lack-of-stability to move it over to Icecast on a Fedora Core machine. I'm using Ices 0.4 for MP3's. Oddsock has an auto-song requester that I've been using, and it looks to be Win32 only. This is the link: http://www.oddsock.org/tools/gen_songrequester/ Anyway, I was wondering if there were

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody, It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2 and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...). Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't use ICY/X-audiocast. Talking about Real (v9.0 and 10), I already got the

ices2 "crashes" respectivley produces hissing
Hello list! I've recently installed icecast2 and ices2 on my Debian Sarge box, to stream some musik for my local network. Basically, it just runs fine, using my soundcard / ALSA as audio source. Unfortunately, there is one BIG problem: after a certain amount of time (varies, can be a few minutes up to an hour or so), ices2 just "crashes", thus producing a terrible noise on the

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Stephan, I am talking about the meta-data: Artist - Song. It's weird because you are the second person on the list who doesn't get it working in Real... I just tried again with "BEK_dns" and "Radio Alcanzando Naciones" the 2 first MP3 radios I found in the stream directory and everything worked perfectly for Real (but not for WMP). In RealPlayer, I clicked

converting mp3's to aac+ or ogg
Hello, I've got a FreeBSD 6 machine running icecast2 and ices0streaming four different streams of mp3's. Now i have a need to stream the same content as either aac+ or ogg vorbis whichever would be easiest to set up and give the best quality. I want these new streams to handle both broadband and dialup users without sacrificing quality. My problem is i really really do not want to

Current Song: utf-8
My app is sending utf-8 encoded metadata via the /admin URL interface but the Icecast web page displays it as ascii. Playing the stream in Winamp correctly displays Chinese characters. Is this not supported?

streaming to dialup users gives low quality audio
Hi, Currently streaming ogg isn't practical in this situation. That was one of the first things i checked into. WHen i looked i didn't see a streamer that did both ogg and mp3. Thanks. Server disconnects clients
Hi I'm running Icecast2 with the IceS streamer which was installed from the ports on FreeBSD. Everything seems to be fine with my configuration as it starts up fine but as soon as I connect using a client like Media Player or WinAmp I see the following in the error.log [2003-10-27 21:00:27] DBUG format/format_generic_write_buf_to_client Client had recoverable error -1 [2003-10-27 21:00:27]

Question about range select for static file serve in icecast
Hi, i'm trying to use range in a static file served by icecast 2.2 I can't find an example of an http request. Is something like http://my-icecast-server.com:8000/my-static-file.ogg?range=bytes%3D120000- correct? I can't get that working. Maybe I forgot an option on icecast side. I tried to open that file (without range) in winamp 5, but it downloads all the file while playing and

streaming to dialup users gives low quality audio
Hello, I've got two streams, one for broadband, one for dialup. Well, having had occation to use a dialup connection recently i checked the dialup stream. Although it was streaming what the broadband stream was, the audio quality was audibly worse. It didn't buffer, but it didn't sound as clear as the broadband stream. I used lame to encode the tracks to mp3 and used it's

PWM-based voltage management input clock
Hello, We recently reverse engineered PWM-based voltage management but found an odity in the input clock frequency for the PWM controller. It seems like RM is assuming an input clock of 27.648 MHz instead of the actual 27MHz crystal found on the board. I thus have the following questions: - Is it a fixed value hardcoded in RM? (Current way it is done in Nouveau) - Should we use

Client had recoverable error
Hi there, I?m using icecast 2.0.1 with darkice 0.14 streaming an 192kb mp3 stream. Everything seems to work fine except that clients (eg winamp5) disconnect after a period of time (5/10/20 minutes). The icecast log shows some weir errors: [2004-08-18? 01:24:54] DBUG format-mp3/format_mp3_write_buf_to_client Client had recoverable error -1 [2004-08-18? 01:24:54] DBUG

Displaying song titles
OK, I'm a clueless newbie...I'm using icecast on a colocated server as a mirror to my shoutcast server. Everything works ok, but the only info shown in winamp is the stream title (station ID) when connecting to the mirror. The shoutcast server displays song info as it should, but the mirror is not parsing it. How do I set things up to display currently playing song and artist and

Current hardware requirements for decoding? (skipping problem)
The vorbis FAQ mentions that decoding vorbis should use roughly the same resources as decoding MP3's, but that the current source is not optimized. So what is the current requirement? I have a Pentium 133 with 64 megs and I cannot get .ogg files to play without skipping. I've tried encoding .wav files and downloading .ogg files from www.vorbis.com and playing them on Winamp with
