No re-encoding?
Hi,
Just a check for something I can't quite clarify from the docs...
I have a directory of ogg files, quality level 5, that are fed to icecast
by ices (all just installed, so whatever the current versions are). I
have no quality/encoding specifications in the configs and so expect the
files to pass through in the same format. But when I look at the status
page, I see "quality

Questions on setting up icecast
yep, they simply forward the bitstream to icecast. And in general, bitrate
changes are handled by most listening clients, although very few I have
found (if any) can handle samplerate changes appropriately.

You mentioned these programs and their "no-reencoding" mode. Can they
handle collections of MP3s of different bitrate?

What's the difference between bitrate and samplerate? Samplerate is like
44KHz or 48KHz?

Icecast2 and IceS2 client problem
Dear All:
I have Icecast2 and IceS2 successfully built and installed on a Debian 3.0
system. After tinkering with the config files, both applications are running
and seem to be talking to each other without problem. However, when I try to
connect with a client, I run into problems: with Winamp 2.8, I get an [HTTP/1.0
200 OK] message, but then the stream is apparently dropped before buffering.

Ices encode stops using Hauppauge pvr usb2
Hello,
I have a version 29 of Hauppauge pvr usb2 which i am using as a fm receiver.
It is connected to an Intel NUC on a usb3 port running kernel linux-3.8.12.
The fm audio is fed to ices encoder using
mpeg2desc -a0 < /dev/radio0 | mpg123 -s - | ices /tmp/ices-stdin.xml
This works well for two days. However something kills of encoding after two
days of running. Ices reports in the log

Questions on setting up icecast
Sorry, gang. The FAQ didn't seem to answer me, nor did Googling...
I merely want a simple solution to do the following:
I am setting up a streaming server for in-house use.
I want it to broadcast the RAW MP3 DATA from my actual MP3 files, as I
listen to them in xmms.
In other words, I DO NOT want:
XMMS ---> decode to wave ---> re-encode to MP3 ---> icecast ---> listeners

cd archival (revisited/again)
merry christmas everybody.
i've recently begun working on a project to load my cds and i must say
single file flac-as-a-cd-container with an embedded cuesheet is
brilliant. So i figured no problem. rip, single file flac and then its
just a matter of playlists and such... a nobrainer... but i keep
getting stuck.
ok, so what i set out to do is simple. read cds into either pcm or

Icecast 2.2.0 and Ices2: no audio
Folks:
I'm trying to set up a streaming server under Fedora Core 2 using Icecast
2.2.0. Everything compiles; everything runs. There are no indications of a
problem in any of the log files.
When I look at http://192.168.0.128:8000/status.xsl, everything looks ok.
But when I click on "Click to listen", it brings up xmms, but there's no
indication of audio, and xmms shows a bit

Problems with xmms & freeamp
Hi all,
I've just set up a test icecast2 server (download and compiled from cvs
about an hour ago) - very simple setup, all it does is use ices to stream
in an .ogg file that I converted from an mp3, using mpg123 & oggenc.
(I've used the sample conf files with the directory stuff removed. I've
also tried it with and without the re-encoding lines from the
ices-playlist.xml file).

mount points & multiples streams II
I have done some experimenting but if am incorrect I would like someone to correct me.
I am trying to run multiple streams so what I have created additional directories such as mrock24, mRock64, and mRock128 in the '/etc/ices' directory . In these directories I have placed new conf files and playlist files respectively streaming 24, 64, and 128. These directories are also the name of the

about playlist
I have the icecast with some ices working perfectly in a Linux server,
mp3
files are reproduced with no problems, I'm quite satisfied with it but I
have a little doubt!
When users click the link at the HTML page, their default player (like
xmms,
winamp... etc) doesn't load.
That's how I've made the link:
