Seattle Meetup?
Hi all, It looks like I''ll be in Seattle on Sunday, September 16th through Tuesday the 18th, and I''d like to have Puppet Meetup either Sunday or Monday night. On Adam''s recommendation, I''ll be staying at the Queen Anne Inn, so something near there would be best. Hopefully Adam or Blake can do the actual organization. :) Any takers? -- What is

lib/block.c question
I'm starting in on documenting bits of vorbis (I'ld like to work on low bit rates someday). 1. Can others doing documentation tell me what they're working on? Please e-mail me directly. I'ld rather my efforts were coordinated with yours! 2. In lib/block.c, I do not understand the rationale for the choice of largebound in the case of vd.W being a short window (vd.W==0). The

Tricking asterisk to think the call has ended, but it was continuing on the other side
I am banging my head over a simple asterisk trick I was seeing on one asterisk server. An extension dials an international premium number, the called number answers, then the extension hangups, but the call continue to run on the international number side, generating an high profit for the premium number company and a big loss for the asterisk owner. I think some sort of "transfer"

Winamp Shoutcast DSP to Icecast?
Hello. I'd like to broadcast my Winamp audio via the Shoutcast DSP to my Icecast server. According to all i've read, this can be done and should be simple, but I can't get it to work. Here are details for how my server is set up. Anyone spot anything obvious? The Icecast version is 2.4.2 on Windows 8.1 I have only the default listen socket defined. <listen-socket>

Thanks to Adam Greenbaum for recently helping me get libshout fully icy compatible. I'll be releasing a new libshout and libshout-perl this weekend, but int he meantime, you can grab the head of CVS for each and you'll get the same thing. Also, he tracked down some yp.shoutcast.com problems, and I have checked in a solution that lists icecast servers on yp.shoutcast.com once again.

yp.shoutcast.com 404 errors...
In trying to find out why neither icecast nor shoutcast no longer lists my radio station (I thought it might be the connectivity issues which plagued me this month), I find this: >> unfortunately, the kind folks over at Nullsoft axed all icecast entries on >> their YP... >> Quote from Tom Pepper : >> >> "I also had to pull support for icecast today from the

Shoutcast YP/WinAmp Directory Listing
Hi; Is it possible for an Icecast stream to get listed in the Shoutcast YP and WinAmp? If so, what's the correct syntax for the directory entry? Shoutcast YP/WinAmp Directory Listing
From a technical standpoint, we could make this happen, however : 1. the Shoutcast listing protocol is completely different from the Icecast one, and so we'd have to code it and maintain it. 2. (more importantly) Shoutcast has, in the past, banned all non-shoutcast stations (and yes, even specifically icecast stations) from their directory. They've explicitly stated they don't

Getting Listed on yp.shoutcast.com
Scott, > Thats what i do.. just relay. Exactly how are you doing it, and what software are you using (shoutcast version / icecast version / what streaming software are you using)? I'm running icecast 1.3.10, shoutcast 1.8.0, and irpd 0.16 to stream. When I try to relay from shoutcast to my main icecast server, I get the following: <03/15/01@22:38:06> [main] dns thread starting

Mike hodson <mystica@darktech.org> writes: > Might I ask -how- precisely they banned all icecast servers. Perhaps the real question you should ask is..."should" anyone worry about this at all? Personally speaking, I've been streaming for quite a while (barring a few networking problems) and I've always seen the same behavior from the shoutcast (Nullsoft) people.

Can't add new users
Hi all, I tried to add a new user to a Samba share, I did all the usual: made a Unix account on the Unix server for the user which was the same as the user's window's UID. Put her name as a valid user for that directory in server:/etc/opt/samba/smb.conf, and stopped and started server:/sbin/init.d/samba server; nothing worked. Interesting observations: 1- After performing the steps

Winamp Shoutcast DSP to Icecast?
Thanks for the quick response, Philipp. I'll specify the mount and see if that fixes my problem. For what it's worth, the following appears in the icecast.xml which came with my download of 2.4.2 just beneath the authentication section. Is there help I can offer in removing this section from, or correcting it in, the file for future packages? set the mountpoint for a shoutcast source

My icecast server (1.3.11) has been getting 404 errors for the past couple of days from the yp.shoutcast.com server. mp3 vs ogg question
How come the song data shows up faster with ogg when with mp3. I ask this because the people who are using icecast to stream police scanners also made a system to send realtime updates to what channel people are listening to. With Ogg the title shows up about .5 of a second before the talking starts but with mp3 it's about 1-2 seconds after the talking starts. Is there anyway to speed up the

Shoutcast YP/WinAmp Directory Listing
Thanks for the info oddsock, I guess at the end of the day, if icecast was listing in scast and scast banned it then it would be a waste of time And they would ban the streams as soon as they find em being listed so we'll forget that idea ;-) Fred: http://www.steamcast.com/faq.php?p_id=#5 Regards. -----Original Message----- From: icecast-bounces@xiph.org
