Difficulty w/1.0 and Sonique/Winamp
I am very excited to see the Vorbis 1.0 out.
Unfortunately, neither Sonique 1.808a nor Winamp 2.5
is willing to play the resulting files. Only silence.
I tried the simple case of 'oggenc track1.wav' and it
created the expected track1.ogg, 3.5MB in size with
avg. bitrate of 110kbps at default quality 3. These
applications worked fine with a much older version of
oggenc. Maybe Beta 2

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
I've searched the archives on xiph and elsewhere in hopes of finding an
answer on whether song titles will work. There seems to be no definitive
answer.
use_meta_data 1 DOES work for WinAmp 2.75 but nothing else I've tried (which
includes the latest WinAmp and Sonique). Also, I can get some header by
telnetting into my port (see below) but still the "meta_data" issue remains

WriteProcessMemory and friends in Wine?
Hi,
As a matter of convenience, I have created various loaders to programs
that I use that either remove the requirement for the program CD at
runtime, or perform other modifications to the program to make it more
desirable to use (i.e. redirect audio cd access to WAV files on HDD).
My general approach is to figure out what I want to do first; then patch
a copy of the executable, test it and get

Playback + Replay Gain questions
I don't recall seeing anything about how to apply the same gain to an album as opposed to a mix of tracks. Man page and site seem vacant on it. Any clues as to where to look?
I looked at mpd but ended up not using it due it not working with my sound cards as I had them setup. I do remember there being a very good curses player though. Before leaving gnump3d worked quite well for me since

Problem with CloneCD :-)
Hi,
just out of curiosity I was trying to install the latest CloneCD trial
version on the latest Wine from CVS.
The problem I'm seeing is that CloneCD writes an entry to the registry:
\\HKLM\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\ElbyCDIO
with underneath (amongst others):
ImagePath(REG_EXPAND_SZ) : System32\Drivers\ElbyCDIO.sys
When I run CloneCD it tries to start this 'service':

Morrowind sees wine as a debugger and refuses to start.
Hello list,
I successfully installed Morrowind. Unfortunately, the game won't start. It
issues a small popup saying a debugger has been detected, and that the
debugger needs to be closed for the game to run.
Is there any way I can avoid programs to see Wine as a debugger?
Thanks!

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
also, keep in mind that support for streaming song titles is also a
function of the source client you use....
I've been very successful with use_meta_data=1 and using either my DSP
source (oddcast) or the Shoutcast DSP source....
and you can always know for sure if song titles are supported on your
server by looking at the HTTP response headers from a request of the
stream, (your request

Vorbis stream up now
Greetings:
If you're using the latest XMMS (CVS preferably), FreeAmp, Sonique
(?), or ogg123 (maybe), please check out this URL for a Vorbis playlist
stream:
http://64.108.112.34:8000/shouter.ogg
The playlist is lengthy, and I've set it to repeat three times, so it
will be on-line for a while. Please let me know how well or badly the
stream was received, thanks.

question about icecast & winamp & media player
Hi,
It's been pretty quiet as of late.
I have a question.
I have an icecast server housed at my provider with a very good internet
connection.
At work I'm using an ADSL line, which should be sufficient to listen to
the 128K streams I'm sending out.
However, when I listen with WinAmp, after about half an hour the stream
stutters and stops. I can restart it and listen again but it

connection problem
I am pretty sure that the integrity of my mp3's is okay. I know that music
match shreds the mp3 data and produces mp3 files that are not ISO compliant.
I always use WaveLab and the radium codec to encode my sets and enable the
ISO compatibility option at all times. This problem only seemed to come
about with winamp 2.7 but if sonique is doing it to, I don't know...
What about relaying? Do

Update freeamp. There were streaming bugs until last week.
Not sure about sonique.

Icecast2 Ogg Clients
Hi,

I was streaming Ogg Vorbis to a mount point which didn't end .ogg
ogg123 played the stream without any problems, but other clients
(xmms, Audion) just kept rebuffering and failed to detect that it as
an Ogg encoded stream.
Surely the client should use the MIME type provided by the server
rather than rely on the suffix in a URL ?

Is there any attempt to encourage

RC3 Tagging/Encoding and Winamp answer
First of all, I'm using WinXP and love vorbis! :-)
Since I just joined the mailing list, I figured I would answer the Winamp
question. Winamp has different EQ algorithms - they have a "fast layer 2/3
EQ" option for mp3s, and they have a PCM EQ for all other formats (wma, ogg,
etc.). While the mp3 EQ sounds ok, the PCM EQ (which gets applied to ogg
files) is absolutely horrible. I

mountpoint fallback support
After I installed the latest nightly build, it looks like the fallback works without rebuffering. I do see one problem -- when the main mountpoint stream restarts, the fallback continues to play. Once I stop the fallback mountpoint stream, the main mountpoint stream restarts, but only after client rebuffering
Also, during the mountpoint switchovers, sometimes the meta-data is lost in the

Contained in tonight's last commit:
Fixed a link-crossing bug in libvorbis (total time was reset to -1
at the link boundary until the next packet with a frame number arrived)
Implemented instantaneous bitrate capability in libvorbis; added
ov_bitrate_instant() to interface. I know I talked about a different interface
to this with the Sonique folks a few months ago... I couldn't remember
