I never said that the information would be deleted. Rather, the new page will
concentrate on icecast2 and related vorbis projects. The information for the
older releases (as well as all the content from the Icecast1 page) will just
be a click away.
I'm not justifying anything. Read back to a few days ago, maybe a week or so.
I asked for help documenting Icecast2 and Ices2. You just not

Are you serious???
The development state of "Icecast 1" vs. Icecast2 has *nothing* to do =
with the
web site. Not from a user perspective anyways.
What's infuriating is you're not even ASKING for

icecast 1.3 or 2 ???
Hi
wow for a person just starting this is all exciting - do people here think its better to install icecast2 if it's as stable as you
say and start to learn on this and not bother with 1.xxx
All we want to do is live broadcast ( icecast on red hat box but we use winamp to get the data too this )

This is true. There is no solid documentation for icecast2, yet.

Re [ogg]
I guess as a mercy plee for help I'll mention why I need to have the
static ogg files play as the mp3 static files play with icecast1. I'm
the founder of the LPBN and I've recently made Richard Stallman's files
available as downloads (it is a work that is still in process). Stallman
has requested I make them available as streams as well as downloads. So
is there anybody out

Hi there.
I just switched from icecast1 to icecast2. Right now I'm not sure if
that was a very good idea. I do like the ogg-support, but I lack a good
amount of documentation (Hey, I'd be glad to help you out, but how can
there be consistent documentation for a software that is only available
through cvs(-snapshots)?) and good linux source clients.
I used xmms-liveice or muse before, but

icecast2 transcode?
I've got a dilema. For months, I've been planning and implementing
a large project involving vorbis, ices2, icecast2 and wifi networking.
The plan is to stream live audio from 10 Austin nightclubs during
the SXSW music festival this March.
Well yesterday, it was made plain to me that I must also provide mp3
streams, since "it's an mp3 world."
I'm upset about this

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
I've gotten a request from another broadcasting partner to set up yet
another streaming audio server. They would like to stream in both ogg
and mp3 formats from off a single icecast machine. I have been searching
through the archives and I have seen this mentioned as being possible,
but no real configurations.
I would of course place LAME on the box and use that for streaming just
as I would

Is there a guide?
Ices is pretty easy to set up. Can you be more specific than "it didn't work
for me"?

intended login protocol for icecast2
well, don't get me wrong, I am not generally opposed to progress, but
speaking as a coder of source clients, providing yet another authentication
mechanism is a bit frustrating....
I guess it wasn't too bad having to deal with Shoutcast/Icecast/Icecast2
specific connection protocols (yes they are ALL different!) but I am NOT
going to support Shoutcast/ICecast/Icecast2 (ICE

Problem with Ices and Icecast2
Thanks a lot for your help...
If you need Ices2 for streaming ogg with Icecast, which is the utility of
Ogg-Vorbis support of ices1 ?

ices2 streaming mp3's
Hello,
I'm trying to set up an internal broadcasting center for a company.
They've got a great many mp3's they'd like to do. I'd like to use either
icecast or icecast2 for this and darkice or ices2 as a streamer. This will
be on a FreeBSD 5.0 machine. As of now i have not had great success with
this setup primarily in the streamer area. I can get either icecast1 or 2
going
