We have been fortunate to hang onto one of our summer interns for part time work on weekends during the current school year. One of the intern's jobs is to load documents and data which are then processed.? The documents are .txt, .docx, and .pdf files. The data files are raw sensor outputs usually captured using ADCs mostly with eight bit precision.? All files are loaded or moved from one

Game Locking Up Due to Sound?
I'm relatively new to Linux. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04. I've installed Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl. The game runs fine but with absolutely no sound. I configure the sound using ALSA in the drivers portion of the audio tab and the test works fine. I have removed pulse audio as I have read this conflicts with WINE. It seems if I try to use an audio driver the game then locks up and all

DES, eBones and crypt availble for non-US!
Hello World! (In particular, that part of it ouside the USA and Canada) I have (with official sanction of the organisation concerned) a LEGAL site for the distribution of crypt and Kerberos code. The secure code (crypt) is _identical_ to the US code. It originated in South Africa and Australia, and has never been to the US, so it is totally kosher. The Kerberos (eBones actually) code stared out

I''m not the biggest fan of rants but, anyone fancy responding to this?
There (yet) another discussion going on on the O''Reilly web logs about J E5, complexity and the competitors (i.e. Rails et al). See http://www.oreillynet.com/windows/blog/2006/07/the_beginning_of_the_end_for_j.html. Seems this was spawned by my own article available at: http://www.soaranch.com/articles/2006/7/11/soa-and-rails-part-1.html. My response to this discussion is at:

MIT Kerberos and OpenSSH

I have set NO_KERBEROS=yes in /etc/make.conf so that the heimdal kerberos is not built, and rebuilt world, then installed /usr/ports/security/krb5 and rebuilt world again. sshd is however not being built against MIT at all. Ogg in MP4 file, Unexpected result from _vorbis_unpack_books
Hi. I'm trying to implement Ogg/Vorbis support for the MPEG4IP project. The goal is to support Ogg/Vorbis audio for MPEG-4 streaming. So far I have managed to make the encoder save Ogg packets as an Audio object in an .mp4 file. As a side effect, it can also save Ogg pages in an .ogg file playable by xmms, but that's no big deal. So what I'm doing is this. First the init part. a)
