disappointed with group
Hi all, must say I have found the help in this group very disapointing. Have mail numerous times for help with some (in hindsight) simple problems. yet no one (ok 1 person) has attempted to aid me. If this group was ONLY filled with novices and users I could accept this but I have seen members of the development team , and others who have insight into the workings of icecast comment on other

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
I've searched the archives on xiph and elsewhere in hopes of finding an answer on whether song titles will work. There seems to be no definitive answer. use_meta_data 1 DOES work for WinAmp 2.75 but nothing else I've tried (which includes the latest WinAmp and Sonique). Also, I can get some header by telnetting into my port (see below) but still the "meta_data" issue remains a

also, keep in mind that support for streaming song titles is also a function of the source client you use.... I've been very successful with use_meta_data=1 and using either my DSP source (oddcast) or the Shoutcast DSP source.... and you can always know for sure if song titles are supported on your server by looking at the HTTP response headers from a request of the stream, (your request

Hi, I'd really like to enable ID3 tags and streaming titles. > From reading icecast.conf I realise this is experimental. I'm assuming experimental means works most of the time :-) I've set this flag, however receive no ID3 tags or streaming titles. use_meta_data 1 I need some guidance on this one, im using icecast 1.3.12 and ices 0.2.3. Multiple bitrate from the same source ?
Hi, I'd like to broadcast the same source at multiple bitrate. Is it possible ? Have you got some clues ? ices, name of current song
Dear Bredan -- I'm seeing them in the debug logs, but they're not making their way into the stream. OTOH, they are making their way to the directories (ie, shoutcast): http://yp.shoutcast.com/directory/?s=lamrim&st=gs&l=25 Any thoughts? Thanks for the great work! ogg bitrate scaling
I'm trying to get a bitrate scaled live ogg stream working, but I've not found out how to get this running with the current tools. I've downloaded the CVS icecast2, and darkice, but the only option seems to be if the same stream is actually encoded multiple times at different bitrates. This is not good for my cpu. Can I get bitrate scaled ogg streams working with the current tools?

winamp >2.75 -answer on song titles // use_meta_data-
All I can tell you is that I've been unable to ever get meta_data to stream, and the question I sent about it a week or two ago has gone unanswered. I never actually checked that I was using WinAmp 2.75, but I do know that whatever version of winamp I *was* using could stream metadata from other sites. winamp shout
i am using icecast v1.3.11 my friend streams music to my server with the shout plugin for winamp. there are a couple of problems. 1. icecast doesn't seem to recognize when a client disconnects. i enabled the shoutcast and icecast directory servers, and they were both saying that i had around 400 listeners last night, when in fact i only had 8. the only lines in the icecast configuration

i see that icecast retains song titles only when running in full debug mode (with DEBUG_FULL defined in icecast.h). is this observation correct? how can i find out when a new song is being streamed by a source? can i determine this accurately by examining song title (souce.info.streamtitle)? or, is there a more reliable method? <p>pls. let me know. thanks, deva <p>On Mon, 17 Feb

Relay of title info
Hi Icecast users! I have a Debian box running with Icecast 1.3.11, installed from package icecast-server 1:1.3.11-4.3 from the unstable tree. It's purpose is to relay a bunch of stations using the alias functionality. It all works like a charm except the title information. When relaying stations like Groove Salad from soma.fm WinAMP doesn't show the title info. In my icecast.conf

bug report w.r.t. streaming of metadata in icecast
i've been trying to get title streaming of metadata to work with icecast 1.3.10. i've found what i believe to be a bug -- is this the right place to file a bug report? it appears that this information should be periodically inserted into the data stream. the behavior that i was seeing was that the information was appearing a maximum of one time and sometimes zero times. i believe there
