It should. I just tried it out my own instructions after letting them go a few days. I didn't want them fresh in my mind. I simply copied the configs and played dumb (not too hard). I then started up my playlist server and am listening to it right now. I tested out the streaming stuff a few days ago with good results. Hope it works out as well for you all. Find anything wrong, let me know and I'll fix it. KJ On Wed, 2003-02-12 at 10:36, mike wrote:> You are a god. > > Thanks. Absolutely!! That was one thing that I was missing and would have like to have included. You can either send me the data or let us know the link. If you wouldn't mind adding to this HOWTO and I will post a link to your page so that people would know where I got the original files. Sounds good. Howdy. I just posted an unofficial HOWTO on configuring icecast2 on a Linux or other UNIX machine. It's just a draft in DocBook format, but I was hoping it might help someone. I've worked enough with icecast over the past few years that I thought it time to share what I've learned. The URL is as follows: http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/ I have older documentation in http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/docs/ for those interested. For a more complete treatise on icecast-1.3.x take a look at http://quasi.ksl.com/icecast/legacy/. I can provide the URL to my station's own MP3 stream (using icecast-1.3.x) or to our new OGG stream (using icecast2) to those parties interested. I also have a test audio stream playing a few audio files in OGG format as a quality check. Any feedback or suggestions for improvements would be appreciated. looks great! :-) if you like i can post a how-to for setting up and streaming with oddcast and the win32 icecast 2 from oddsock (I have both with step by step screen shots etc). adam
On 12 Feb 2003, Kerry Cox wrote:> Howdy. Hello All, while icecast is streaming a mp3 source, how is the song title info maintained? that is, does the source send the song title? does icecast log the songs that have been played?
thanks in advance, deva --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. This metadata is sent on to the client using the nasty shoutcast metadata protocol (it's horrid, but it's the only one widely supported by clients), so things like what character set the title it in seem to be completely undefined. icecast will send it on regardless, so if your source sends it in a character set the client is expecting, it'll work. This gets logged at debug level - you can change that if you actually need it logged specifically - see handle_metadata_request in src/connection.c.
