[Q] Web Admin Setting
Hi everybody. I don't know if this message was received before. Sorry if
it was.
I set up a streaming server with Icecast 1.3.11, and
everything has been ok until now, except for one thing: when I try to
set a variable from the Icecast Web Interface (/admin=set page) I get
the next message:
"You must supply a variable to be changed"
The link that Icecast generates is something

Web Admin Settings
Hi everybody. I'm still trying to solve the problem with link in the set
mode page (web admin interface). I have seen in the source file
(item.c) that it is suppose to return and string, but it's returning
nothing. It's ware it can't build the link correctly, because only left
the argument value, and each value is printed previously. I'm going to
keep hacking to try to resolve

"Windows" share issue; access via smb:// fails, "mount -t cifs" works
Hi,
Is anyone here using smb:// URLs to access "Windows" shares? I've been
doing this for a while with common file systems at work, and it used to
work just fine. Then I while back, I started getting issues; I will now
just keep getting asked for a password when I try to access something
through smb://. I thought at first that this meant there had been some
kind of change

Specifying path to a windows server
Windows 7 (local computer)
Windows server (server I am trying to reach)
I need to read a file whose windows path is of the form
\\Theserver\mydirectory\data.csv
You will note that as per windows standards the server name is preceded by two backslashes.
I am not sure how to specify this in R. One usually needs to specify an escape characters in a path new which would suggest my path should

If you can access the stream, you should be able to access the admin console.
I have had some problems though:
If I use Win2000's telnet, I can get an admin console.

Support for here documents with sftp client in OpenSSH 2.5.1p1-1 (RH Linux 6.2 [2.2.x kernel])
A question on the cutting edge sftp client in OpenSSH 2.5.1p1-1:
Is there a standard set of commands for sftp clients? I was hoping to use
sftp as a drop in replacement for some simple FTP transfer scripts. In
particular, the ftp client allows specifying the password in the "user"
command:
user <account> <password>
The scripts use here documents to perform the transfers.

Mongrel Performance Tuning questions
Hi all,
Starting out with load testing for one of my rails apps and am pretty
confused about what the ''best'' way to do this is. I read the tuning
article at http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/how_many_mongrels.html
but am getting some weird numbers from the tests recommended at the
bottom:
httperf --server www.theserver.com --port 80 --uri /tested --num-conns

Samba on Sun
Hello.
I'd like to know if Samba can be installed on Solaris. If so, what are the
steps to follow?
If my question is not well defined please let me know.
Thank you in advance for your precious time,

NEWBIE QUESTION - ERROR [BAD PASSWORD]
I have installed the icecast server on my Debian Linux 2.2. I modified the
distributed icecast.conf (as far as thought was necessary), and I set up the
shout.conf...
Both server and shout are started from root and are set up to localhost.
I could start the server, but when I started shout, it did find the server,
but it was blocked with the message "BAD PASSWORD[encoder]" even if the

reconnecting liveice
Hi everybody.
Is there a way to set up liveice so it reconnects to Icecast
automatically when the connection is lost?.
I tried to automate this process by using a crontab and a perl script,
but when liveice is run with the -@ 2 option It seams It doesn't realize
that the connection has been broken and continues "running". If I do ps
ax, I can see liveice is "running",

Thanks,

encoding/locale problem with ssh -X
Hi all,
I am struggling with remote R sessions and a (I suspect) locale related
encoding problem: Using the X11 device (X11forwarding enabled),
whenever I try to plot something containing umlauts using ggplot2, I am
seeing sth like
,----
| Error in grid.Call(L_stringMetric, as.graphicsAnnot(x$label)) :
| invalid use of -61 < 0 in 'X11_MetricInfo'
