Thanks but I'm looking for something I can run under Red Hat 7.2. Should have made that more clear. Any other suggestions? -Ian > From: "Kevin McNeece" <kmcneece3@attbi.com> > Reply-To: icecast@xiph.org > Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 12:48:52 -0700 > To: <icecast@xiph.org> > Subject: Re: [icecast] More questions! > > Hello Ian, > > I am new to

I would be interestd in the answer. Especially if it was something comparable to SAM, as I would not mind losing Windows Kevin ----- Original Message ----- From: "dj epyon" <dj-epyon@home.net> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Friday, December 14, 2001 13:29 Subject: Re: [icecast] More questions! > Thanks but I'm looking for something I can run under Red Hat 7.2. Hello Ian, I am new to the list and am just now experimenting with icecast, but I use SAM for my broadcast, it allows a very good script style languge that can insert station ID ads etc based on time or number of songs played etc. It is available from www.audiorealm.com It does work with icecast at least in my prelimnary tests. Its my first time installing icecast...and i'm having problems
I've installed icecast. Then I run the server in the bg. I can encode to it from winamp just fine, but I cant seem to stream from it. The icecast verbose messages say "Kicking unknown #3 (hostmask) [no encoder]" or something along those lines. Does this have something to do with my deny/allow settings? Also, when I do a 'sources' it lists that there is a source on mountpoint

Getting Listed
Yeah, I got one. How about a universal listing service that has one type of listing setup, and all servers conform to that?? (ie screw yp.shoutcast.com) I am completely open to working with anyone who would like to pursue such a project, and if it is possible I will even personally put money into it. Switching to another Samba server
I've been running Samba 2.2.2 for a while as a domain controller on my mostly Windows network. It's been working great up to this point. Anyway, I just put together a new Linux server and installed 2.2.2 on it as well. I copied the conf file and pretty much mirrored everything on the existing server, changed the paths and the "workgroup" field in the conf file to match the new

multicast (was streaming)
Hi Jack, Ross & all... We have been working with V-Trails in refining their solution for Mp3 streaming and will be bearing the fruits of this labor starting this weekend publicly with 5 different "Audiorealm Network" stations for first initial public testing - after final testing we look to release this solution NETWORK wide - making the Audiorealm.com Network effectively the first

Having trouble listening to station with Audiorealm player.
Hi, I am having trouble listening to my live broadcasts using the audiorealm player. I am using SAM4 and MySQL with Icecast2. My operating system is Windows XP Home edition. The track info and history all show up fine, but the sound is still missing. I have been trying to get this to work for over a week now with no success. If there's anything else I need to tell you, please let me know.

Streaming
This may be interesting to some. I recently discovered AllCast.com which has developed a p2p streaming solution. Unfortunately they decided to use WMA due to it's video capability but hopefully they could be presuaded to switch to Vorbis later when Tarkin is available. For audio though, it appears a good way to reduce bandwidth requirements at the broadcasting end and potentially

legalities of streaming
Ditto Scott - you nailed it !! But the DMCA actually sets rules on requests and processing them without being considered "interactive" - for instance the time frame allowed from when requests are made and then processed and actually air (minimum 60 minutes), to displaying your playlist - (can not be displayed public in the order of actual performance) basically as long as you never

Indexing, and using an empty string as a name
Hello all, I ran into the following, to me unexpected, behavior. I have (for reasons that don't necessarily pertain to the question at hand, hence I won't go into them) the need/desire to use an empty string for the name of a vector entry. Perhaps I did not read ?"[" very carefully, but it seems to me that he following lines should return "1" at the end:

In need of a Streaming solution
Hello My company is looking for a mp3 streaming solution for a client. We will have an online catalog of music for people to listen to. Our client only wants the user to be able to listen to the music and not download it. Is this possible using icecast? Does icecast support requests? If icecast is not the solution I need, can someone point me into the right direction for mp3 streaming

legalities of streaming
Oh, I almost forgot... If you're going under compulsory licensing: 1) Listener requests cannot be honored, otherwise you will end up labeled an "interactive service" along with Audiogalaxy Rhapsody & the like. Which means more & more expensive royalties. 2) You cannot play more than 3 songs of the same album in any 3 hour period (no more than 2 in a row). Nor can you

Hi all, I just tagged acts_as_ferret 0.2.2 as the current stable version, so get it while it''s hot ;-) new features: - added support for the multiple models/single index approach. - find out the total number of search results by calling total_hits on the array returned by find_by_contents. fixes: - trac tickets #20 (find_by_contents breaks ferret sorting) and #24
