Dynamic playlist support
Here is my suggestion -- something i'm getting started on. iceS supports writing a playlist handler in either Perl or Python, and that could very well get the next song out of a database, that is fueled by requests from users. I'll be using Python (as it RULES! hehe), and the learning curve is rather low. --ben -----Original Message----- From: owner-icecast@xiph.org

Coda and Ext3
Hi everyone, The Linux Coda drivers and the ext3 patches don't seem to get along very well, at least in Linux 2.4.7. I've got a stock 2.4.7 kernel with a patch applied to the USB drivers (for a sony digital camera; see http://www.sujal.net/tech/linux/ just a change in unusual_devs.h). After I applied the ext3 patches from http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/ . Basically,

Online radio is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than on-the-air radio. You MUST follow the RIAA guidelines for non-interactive broadcasts for online radio, and you do not have to follow

CookieStore and Session data via POST vars (no cookies)
This might be a solved issue, so I thought I''d ask. I''m trying to use SWFUpload with the cookiestore. I''m passing in the session_id variable through a POST parameter in the upload. I''ve verified that Flash is sending the POST params (Flash 9). I thought simply by setting cookie_only to false for that method, I would be able to get that to work.

mixed model random interaction term log likelihood ratio test
Hello, I am using the following model model1=lmer(PairFrequency~MatingPair+(1|DrugPair)+(1|DrugPair:MatingPair), data=MateChoice, REML=F) 1. After reading around through the R help, I have learned that the above code is the right way to analyze a mixed model with the MatingPair as the fixed effect, DrugPair as the random effect and the interaction between these two as the random effect as well.

Creating playlists in real-time
I've been working on a jukebox application for a while. My wife recenlty asked "You spend so much time coding that and ripping CDs... Is there a way I can listen to the songs at work?". So...I made a simple web script to add songs to the play queue and I added the ability to stream the raw audio to stdout and linked it up with ices2. My problem is I think the jukebox decodes

Streaming Considerations.
Hey, I'm not sure if this should be in -dev or not, so I'll post it here first. If that's wrong, LMK and I'll post it there. I have a friend who's running an online radio station, well, group of stations, actually. They're stuck in the .ra format, which I personally think sucks rocks. MP3 has a lot of flack surrounding it these days, as well as the problems that the

Dynamic playlist support
I've actually been working on that same idea for the past few weeks. The final product is Livewire Radio, which I've just promoted from alpha to stable beta. It uses PHP and MySQL, and thus integrates very easily with a website. I'll be releasing the source code on SourceForge once I do a few final modifications: http://livewire.sourceforge.net/. Check within a day or two and the

DAAP maybe? (Re: multichannel streaming)
Hi, Would DAAP help somehow? Digital Audio Access Protocol <http://www.opendaap.org/> I do believe since it's based on iTunes, and one can "scrub" a properly networked file with iTunes, that it's DAAP actually includes this feature. But both ends must be using this protocol. (iTunes by itself can only share playlists with your intra-net shared machines. It is

a2billing for residential voip usage
Hello List. I just installed a2billing with asterisk 1.6 and got it working. The only problem is that I'm trying to setup something to manage who's using the most minutes in the house. I noticed a2billing only works for callin cards setups, or maybe I didn't configure it correctly for what I want. Can I use a2billing for "?VoIP residential services"? if yes, how? if no,

legalities of streaming
Basically, to legally broadcast music you must: A) Obtain permissions from the copyright holder (usually the publisher, record label) of the *composition*. ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC offer compulsory licenses for all of the artists they represent, fees based upon roughly how many listeners your station has & how many songs in your broadcast are by artists/composers they represent. B) Obtain
