Icecast/LiveIce Problems
I'm sorry, I meant RedHat 7.0 of course. That machine is running kernel 2.2.14-5.0. I've tried the XMMS LiveIce plugin and XMMS cores as soon as it's enabled. Thanks for the info on buffering. noobie questions
Winamp3 is broken according to some posts here. Try Winamp 2.91 or the latest XMMS. Of course, XMMS requires the xmms-mp3 libraries. Try that and see if it helps. Icecast/LiveIce Problems
I'm having a couple problems trying to get Icecast and LiveIce set up on a Linux 7.0 system. I'm running Icecast 1.3.10 without a config file (using all defaults). I can use shout to stream to it and connect to it from a windows machine running WinAmp. It works OK except winamp stops every few seconds and tells me that it's buffering. It buffers for a few seconds and then plays a

Ogg/Icecast vs. Real
After reading through an older thread on this list (streaming ogg audio), I was wondering if would be possible in the future to use OggVorbis and Icecast as a replacement for RealAudio and RealServer. By this I'm not talking about simple live http/tcp streaming, but on-demand rtsp/udp streaming where a user could open a player and instantly jump to a location in a file, or click a link in a

Ogg response headers
Ok i got a few questions when a client connects (winamp) what are the incoming headers icecast looks for to signify what type(ogg or mp3) of stream the client is requesting? example (for shoutcast winamp sends icy-metadata:1) shoutcast server then recognizes its a player capable of streaming media so it sends the icy-metaint:8192 to winamp, along with a slew of other icy headers. o here is my

icecast2/darkice
Ok, I'm using icecast2 (latest cvs as of maybe 3 hours ago) and darkice .9.1 all compiled under debian/sid with gcc 2.95.4. Everything works ok, as long as I'm using ogg123 to listen to my stream. using xmms (1.27 in in debian sid) it'll buffer up to 50% and then start over again seemingly indefinitely. with winamp 2.80 in winxp, I get nothing but silence, I'd normally thing

xmms and icecast
Hi list, Can anyone tell me weather there is a plugin available for xmms that will let me direct the output of xmms to an icecast server? Rather like the shoutcast plugin for Winamp. <p>Thanks

Winamp icecast streaming broken?
Hi, I have a few problems with Winamp 2.8. (I can't use or recommend Winamp3 because of all the various problems I've had with it. It seems that Ogg streaming is broken on ports other than port 80. However, streaming in general seems not to work correctly. If I point the winamp client at an icecast or gnump3d server, it locates the file or stream fine, buffers a bit, and starts

Speex (source) client?
As you know, Winamp relies on the file extension to know what input plugin to utilize for the audio decoding. The input plugin for .ogg files (in_vorbis.dll) needs to understand the other ogg container formats but it doesn't as it is a vorbis only decoder. So the only solution is for Ogg Speex to have a different extension so this can be appended to the mountpoint, and an input plugin

Icecast2 and IceS2 client problem
Dear All: I have Icecast2 and IceS2 successfully built and installed on a Debian 3.0 system. After tinkering with the config files, both applications are running and seem to be talking to each other without problem. However, when I try to connect with a client, I run into problems: with Winamp 2.8, I get an [HTTP/1.0 200 OK] message, but then the stream is apparently dropped before buffering.

How relay stream information between icecast v1 & v2

Thick in it LOL Ok since you discussed how clients handle mp3, what about ogg vorbis? winamp is just supposed to recognize the .ogg extension? like i said before the mp3 works with that code, but ogg mounts just sit there, doing nothing. <p>Dave St John Mediacast1 Administration ----- Original Message ----- From: "oddsock" <oddsock@oddsock.org> To:

connection problem
I am pretty sure that the integrity of my mp3's is okay. I know that music match shreds the mp3 data and produces mp3 files that are not ISO compliant. I always use WaveLab and the radium codec to encode my sets and enable the ISO compatibility option at all times. This problem only seemed to come about with winamp 2.7 but if sonique is doing it to, I don't know... What about relaying? Do

query reg. streaming protocol
Hi, I am planning to guide Engineering Students, to build a MP3 Streaming Server as part of their academic project. I downloaded icecast 2.0.2 & ices 0.4 & went through the documentation & code. I am not able to find technical resources explaining the streaming protocol between Icecast Server & Client (winamp or xmms). We are in need of technical details of streaming protocol,

Real Player and Icecast 2
I am streaming mp3 to an Icecast 2 server. The stream works well with Winamp, xmms, and Windows Media Player, but Real Player runs for a couple seconds and blows up. The newest Linux version doesn't blow up, but emits a sharp scratching noise about every 2 seconds. Has anyone made this work? --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage:
