I'd expect this to work, so if it isn't, I'm not sure why. If you
can
reproduce this without using icecast 1.x, I'd be happy to look into why
it's
happening - but since icecast 1.x is unsupported, I don't intend to look at 
it otherwise.

There is a full admin interface accessible via the web. There is no admin 
console. 

I'm not sure what you're actually asking about concerning YP.

Hello,
    I apologize for the listwide posting, but i am trying to contact a list
member named Joe i can't remember the last name. I have had a hard disk
failure and have lost his email. He informed me that he had ices 0.3
installed and running under FreeBSD 5.x. If he could contact me privately or
anyone else who has this going i would appreciate it.

The admin fascility in icecast 2 is via HTTP at http://server:port/admin
using the username and password as defined in the config file as adminuser
and adminpassword.

If you have logging set to debug then you should get a lot of info in the
error log, including the YP stuff.

The only 2 I know of are the ones at oddsock.org and dir.xiph.org.
Examples for each of these are in the config file that ships with icecast
2.
