optimising a loop
Dear R community,
I'm trying to remove a loop from my code but I'm stock and I can't find a good way to do it. Hopefully one of you will have something clever to propose.
Here is a simplified example:
I have a squared matrix:
> nom.plac2 <- c("102", "103", "301", "303","304", "403")
> poids2 <- matrix(NA, 6,6,

Re: James Chapman FLAC 1.1.2 File Filter for Cool Edit Pro 2
Hello,
Different how? When displaying the wave in Cool Edit (it's to say, the FLAC
file itself is opened and decoded through the Chapman filter), the audio
wave result shows little differences : changes in frequencies at a given
time, lower or higher; not many changes, but changes! I attribute this to
the filter, because when decoding with your soft, already used for encoding,
no problem

Hi,
A little question : I use two Plextor drives to rip an Audio Cd.
All the files are strictly identical in size and content with the two drives...except the last one; they are identical in size, but when comparing their content, I receive a message saying one is more recent! I really don't understand how it's possible, it must be an hardware reason.
Once ripped, I convert the two files,

James Chapman Flac 1.1.2 File Filter for Cool Edit Pro v2
Hello,
Parano?ac? Maybe... When encoding my files in FLAC, and using the Verify option, I do a final test with Cool Edit Pro v2.0, which used a flac.flt file created by James Chapman for Flac v 1.1.2.
The problem is that, when decoding a Flac file with the Josh Coalson soft, I obtain the same file, in content in size than the original WAV file, but when opening the FLAC file in Cool Edit (using

WINAMP & FLAC
Hi,
This word for a little problem : when using the Equalizer integrated with Winamp v 5.24, this has no action on FLAC files! With MP3 files, no problem, and when reading FLAC files using the Creative Equalizer, no problems too!
Is this a bug in Winamp ?
Thanks,
Didier

Tags Layout
Hi,
When looking into a Flac file with an hexadecimal editor, I observe that the different tags (date, tittle, etc...) are, one time all displayed in capital letters (DATE=), on an other time all displayed in minus letters (date=), or...a mix of both : some tags in capital letters, others in minus letters.
For tagging (and encode/decode) I use the Flac Frontend listed on your site. When testing

Shares mount on linux but not windows?
Curious. I have a gentoo server running 3.0.23d that simply serves out
shares. It is a domain member, but not a pdc. From another linux server,
I can mount up shares without a hitch. But from a windows box, I keep
getting prompted for credentials.
I am not seeing anything substantial in the logs.

Logging into linux machine using AD account?
Greetings. I have just started scratching the surface of using Samba to
create a SSO environment for my network. I have been playing a bit with
both SuSE 9.3 and CentOS 4.1 to authenticate to an AD PDM (W2K).
I've made it the farthest with the CentOS server. I have joined it to
the domain and been able to verify AD users and groups using wbinfo
[-u|-g] and getent [passwd|group]. I have

SSO Samba/AD integration
OK, I'm certain that this topic has been beat to death, but I need some
assistance. I am trying to migrate to a SSO for the majority of our
workstations and servers within our organization. I am currently trying
to integrate a Gentoo Linux workstation to authenticate to the AD
server. Once I get the process nailed down, I'll be moving on to bigger
and better things...

Well, remember when I said:

Just before I found the expunge bug in index, I was trying to fix the
new-dir-only syncing because the code looked wrong. Then I

Something to think about
I'm planning to add multiple-database support for searches to my "Xappy"
python wrapper (more on this wrapper later, but for now, see
http://code.google.com/p/xappy for details). This is reasonably
straightforward, because Xapian supports this nicely: except that
"Xappy" generates a "fieldname->prefix" mapping automatically. The
prefix which corresponds

Is this an actual problem? Most client connections are idle, so I doubt if the occasional drop is noticed at all.
Also, why a limit of 16? Have you tried, oh, 160 instead?

File Extension .OGG
Hi,
I've already sent this to feedback@vorbis.com, but I got no response
and this might be more correctly placed here anyway, so here is a
revised vesrion.
I have one thing to criticize, which is the file extension *.OGG.
It's ambigous (the Netrek meaning) and using it for both video and
audio seems confusing. Plus, there are a lot of OGG files floating
