Peer Review - Linuxfest Presentation Outline
Hello all,
I've been invited to do a presentation on Asterisk for the Ohio
Linuxfest in Columbus this weekend (http://www.ohiolinux.org). Rough
estimates are that nearly 500 people will be attending. I've been working
on an outline for a couple of weeks and I would like to have some peer
review of the information presented.
I am going to have to cut down the content to make it fit in

Vista?
I''ve noticed on this list that people have been successful in installing
Vista under Xen. I don''t get past the first black screen with the gray bar
at the bottom where it says that "Windows is loading files". I''ve tried the
same F5 (and other F key routines that seemed to work with XP) but to no
avail.
I''m running xen 3.0.3-25.0.3 on a HP Proliant

W2K3 Server Installation fails with ACPI=1 on xen-3.0.3-rc3 changeset 11732
Hello !
I installed Windows 2003 Server (RC2) sucessfully on xen 3.0.3-rc3
changeset 11732. XEN and DOM0 is 64-bit X86_64 based.
The hardware I use is a Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (EE, Energy Efficient
Version) on a simple ASUS M2N-MX Mainboard.
However I wasn''t able to run the installation with ACPI enabled in the
config file for the domain (acpi=1). The setup procedure simply freezes

Xen 3.1 / Xen 3.2 + DRBD 8.2.4
Hi all !
Is anyone using xen kernel + drbd 8.2.4 ?
I don''t know exactly if my problems come from the addition of the two
packages, or from drbd 8.2.4, but I encoutered kernel panic 2 times when
trying to do first sync of drbd resources :s
Cheers,

CPU Temprature
Hi;
While using xen-3.0.2 with 2.6.16.28 kernel CPU (Intel(R) Pentium(R) M
processor 1.73GHz) temprature is inreasing up to 104 C
(/proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/trip_points reports 105 C is critical for CPU)
while idle or no domU working with very low system load, and if i
start to use domU, sometimes system freezes or reboots for heat.
But the same kernel just without Xen works normally and

Poor ipsec performance with policy match
Hello !
I have a performance issue with Kernel 2.6.X and policy match support as
suggested in http://shorewall.net/IPSEC-2.6.html. My IPSEC performance
doesn''t exeed about 30kbyte/sec even if my downlink is 1024kbit/sec and
should reach more than 100kbyte/sec.
No, its not the cpu''s performance (AMD Barton 2500+) and no it''s not the
gateway (CELERON 600 Mhz) on the

kernel 2.6.16.* with xen 3.0.2?
Hi,
are there any patches for getting
linux kernel 2.6.16.* working with xen 3.0.2.
A friend told me .1 works fine, and .5 does
not work at all, but maybe that information
is outdated? Also there seem to be a number
of security issues (2.6.16.9 was released
today), so it would be nice if we could use
the latest stable kernel with these fixes.
are there patches to fix any problem with

Linux choices ?
First of all, My apologies for this maybe slight OT post, but I have
so much confidence and read so much good replies on this list, that I
am still asking my question.
I''m looking for a linux distribution to use on our school''s homemade
routers. The routers are small miniITX based systems with 2 network
interfaces. I added a 4 port D-Link network card in some cases, when I

Ohio Linuxfest 2004 Presentation
Hello,
On Saturday, Oct 2nd 2004, I did a 45 minute presentation on
Asterisk to the Ohio Linuxfest. Roughly 350 people attended, and I think I
spoke with nearly all of them at some time during the day. N2Net had an
Asterisk PBX running on a Laptop w/ a pair of SNOM 200 Phones setup for
people to play with. When all was said and done, nearly 800
incoming/outgoing calls were made through the

off topic - Internet GOD -
Hello,
Although it is off topic, but I wanted to share my idea with the group of
shorewall
There were greek,Egyptian,.... gods
they have gods for everything
I think it is our turn to make a god for the internet
it is a virtual thing, but I think it is a nice idea
and he/she should be the protector and so on
as the internet is like the Sky /water, and fire
If no one likes the idea , do not

p2v migration + Xen
Hi All,
We are using Xen to help keep certain services separate on the LAN but
also to create multiple virtual machines for safe and easy software
development across multiple platforms (all Linux based).
Am looking for some advice/tips/how-tos/whatever to help in a p2v
migration I am about to undertake.
We have a machine in place that I would like to migrate, however am unsure
as to what the

kernel and netfilter patches already in Redhat AS 4 for IPSEC
I read LinuxFest NW 2005 Presentation pdf. On page 32, mentioned it
required patches on kernel 2.6.x and netfilter and It only said that
SuSE 9.2 and 9.3 had patches on it''s stock kernel. I''m using Redhat AS
4. Anybody knows does the stock kernel and netfilter had theses
patches patched ? or How should I know the kernel and netfilter had
these patches applied ?
thanks!

One NIC, filtering access
Hello all, What I am doing seems fairly straight forward to me, I just am
not sure how to put it into Shorewall''s config files. Here is what I have:
I have a single router that takes 5 public IP addresses and routes them to
internal IP addresses. In the past, I had control over that router and
could port filter at the router, forwarding only the traffic I wanted.
However, now, I
