Lossless audio codecs for video editing
sorry about the delay... this it the first I'm seeing the message, maybe it got stuck in moderation because of the cross posting. --- Christian HJ Wiesner <chris@matroska.org> wrote > I was wondering how suitable both are with respect to video editing, > especially if it comes to sample precise cutting. Standardization FLAC through IETF
Dear members of the flac-dev list, I'm writing to ask for feedback from the FLAC community regarding the possibility of standardizing the FLAC specification through the Internet Engineering Task Force. I'm working with MediaArea on the PREFORMA project which focuses on building conformance checkers for Matroska and FFV1. Since Matroska and FFV1 are not yet formally standardized, this

lossless codecs in wireless headphones.
Hey, just came across this article. http://www.eetimes.com/news/latest/showArticle.jhtml;jsessionid=ZLCZZJMVGJYNYQSNDLSCKHA?articleID=201202250 . Many of you would be already aware of this. It mentions flac also. i feel it is a good segment(stereo wireless headsets over bluetooth) to push flac given very light decoder and using encoder at low compression(to reduce complexity). Though very less is

Storing FLAC in Matroska
First, Thank you for your answers. I using the following code to try simply decode a flac file and write the decoded data raw PCM file. The resulting file is just noise and pops, so is the decoded data in a different format than PCM? struct flacData { FILE *inputFile; FILE *outputFile; char *filename; }; FLAC__StreamDecoderReadStatus flac_DecoderReadCallback(const FLAC__StreamDecoder

Storing FLAC in Matroska
Hello, I'm looking into storing FLAC audio in Matroska and I have a few questions. 1. Can I use libflac to extract the compressed frames? Or will I need to write up a simple file parser? 2. What is required to decode the frames? From the docs I understand that you need the FRAME and you may need the METADATA_BLOCK. Thanks, Jory Stone jcsston@toughguy.net Matroska, the new,

Should Join Discussion - Fwd: [whatwg] Give guidance about RFC 4281 codecs parameter
Hello, You guys might want to join this discussion. (And maybe some others too.) On the WhatWG mailing list, there's been a fury of e-mails about adding a <video> element to HTML5. They're talking about codecs and containers now. It might be helpful to have your representatives there. And help shape things. See ya ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Dave Singer

Extension Packets?
I have a project I'm investigating. The goal is to basically add lossless extensions to Opus. You have an Opus stream with standard packets, but interwoven in there are extension packets that contain the residuals. Ideally, compliant decoders play the stream back and ignore the extension packets. This (hopefully) makes the "lossless" stream compatible with existing players.

Extension Packets?
Hi, We have already pointed out multiple times in the HydrogenAudio thread ( http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=99653 ) why we think this is a bad idea. These include (off the top of my head): 1) The Opus decoder does not have a bit-exact definition 2) It would require a bit-exact resampler too (the one from opus-tools isn't bit-exact even in fixed-point) 3) Opus has

Seeking in WebM
Hi everyone, I'm working on a WebM plug-in for Premiere. You probably already know that WebM is a Matroska container that uses Vorbis for audio compression. I'm pretty new to the world of audio compression and need some help. You can see my code here: http://github.com/fnordware/AdobeWebM First of all, I wonder if it's possible to seek to an exact audio sample in WebM. Whereas

Enhanced Podcasts with Ogg Vorbis (Chapter Marks)
Hello list! Since it is more and more common these days to create enhanced podcasts (= audio files with additional chapter markers [1]), I am searching for an alternative to the currently used MP4 format. ID3 also puplished an official standard for chapters [2], but nobody seems to use and support it. Now I am trying to get something similar with vorbis audio (and maybe an additional

Interop RTP "Extension headers" for QOS?
We're setting up a connection with Level3's voip system and when we use Asterisk or make or recv calls we get an initial pulsing noise. Level3's Interop team explains that's their RTP extension headers and Asterisk apparently doesn't know what to do with it. He said we need to either ignore or of course let the traffic pass. Has anyone heard of this before? I understand the
