How to re-order panels and y-axis values in trellis display using lattice
Hi, I have been trying to re-order several items in a trellised barchart display in lattice, but can't seem to figure it out. ###sample code, Stage and Colony have 2 and 3 levels respectively. barchart(Activity ~ Percent | Stage + Colony, data = Percent.df, horizontal = TRUE, layout = c(2,3), xlab = "Percent Time Engaged in Activity", ylab = "Activity") This

How to get podcasters to adopt Speex?
Ah, but speex.org should lead by example. Instead of posting wav files, why not post the actual speex files as well? Then make it plaingly obvious for people to download the plugins with links to the page you just posted. update.packages(checkBuilt=TRUE) returns Error: invalid version specification NA in 2.9.0
I installed R-2.9.0 yesterday, and followed the instructions in the R for Windows FAQ, 2.8 What's the best way to upgrade? It reads "run update.packages(checkBuilt=TRUE, ask=FALSE) in the new R and then delete anything left of the old installation." I did this but it returned an error. It's the checkBuilt=TRUE which causes it, though I don't know why: leaving it out or

Speex (source) client?
As you know, Winamp relies on the file extension to know what input plugin to utilize for the audio decoding. The input plugin for .ogg files (in_vorbis.dll) needs to understand the other ogg container formats but it doesn't as it is a vorbis only decoder. So the only solution is for Ogg Speex to have a different extension so this can be appended to the mountpoint, and an input plugin

mpeg4/xvid/divx vs. theora
Hi there, I have an elementary question. Although theora can be placed in the same class of codecs as MPEG-1, -2, -4 why is there no greater usage of this codec? On the bigger part of web sites trailers or short videos are encoded with some mpeg codec. Why is theora still so rarely used and unfamiliar although it perfomes very well from my point of view? Is it, because - the whole mpeg family is

How to get podcasters to adopt Speex?
I would love to see podcasters adopt the Speex format to deliver clear speech audio at wideband or ultra-wideband formats. However, podcasters want something that can easily play on Windows, Macs, and even Linux web browsers. The Speex website has some nice audio demos, but it doesn't actually offer any HTML embedded samples using actual Speex format. Would there be a way to do this with

Migrating to dovecot
I do not have much experience in setting up imap servers - only that I have tried several and experienced the same problem with all of them. I suppose that is because I do not really know the in's and out's of an imap server. What I want to do is to setup an IMAP server on my PC with full access to all the emails already there in a maildir structure. I have the following setup:

SpeexEnc/SpeexDec Source Code
I'm working in .NET and have found that there is, unfortunately, no simple way to access unmanaged, object-oriented APIs from C#/VB.NET. Ultimately I have decided to adapt speexenx and speexdec into a simple, functional API with two functions: one for encoding an array of bytes, and one for decoding it. Does anyone know if the source code for speexenc and speecdec is available, or are they

Sure, I could download OpenOffice and try it, but it's nice to be able to

Speex (source) client?
oddcast currently doesn't do speex, or ogg-speex. One of the biggest problems currently with speex (and flac too) is client support. I've just recently added ogg-flac support to oddcast (not yet available) and in my testing found that client support for this format is horrible. On windows, Winamp and Foobar choke on it (most likely assuming that if it's ogg, it must be vorbis)

Multi-channel support
Hi All, Are multi-channel (more than 2) formats fully supported in the OggVorbis specification ? I couldn't find any information about multi-channel support on xiph.org. I've used 'oggdropXPd' to encode a 5.1 wavefile and the Xiph OggVorbis libraries (vorbisfile.dll) to decode the file successfully, however the order of the channel interleaving is different to the original wave

Enduring LME confusion… or Psychologists and Mixed-Effects
Dear ExpeRts, Suppose I have a typical psychological experiment that is a within-subjects design with multiple crossed variables and a continuous response variable. Subjects are considered a random effect. So I could model > aov1 <- aov(resp~fact1*fact2+Error(subj/(fact1*fact2)) However, this only holds for orthogonal designs with equal numbers of observation and no missing values.

Aggregate Controllers
Hi, I''m developing a dashboard like page and basically want to combine the result of multiple actions on a page. I''ve done this so far: def index r1 = render_to_string :action => "action1" r2 = render_to_string :action => "action2" render :text => r1+r2 end This works, but now I want to render from other controllers and this is where
