Devel Site Metadata
Perhaps Drupal''s most powerful and versatile feature is its taxonomy -- essentially the core metadata used to describe, organize and manage content -- important stuff for a good Drupal-based site. Please read http://devel.shorewall.net/node/25, and add any suggestions you might have about how the devel site''s metadata could/should be designed. Ron

Shorewall development web site
Hi folks, Last night and this morning i''ve hacked up a quick web site for coordinating our development work based on Drupal (http://drupal.org). You can find it at: http://shorewall.dyndns.org I''ve put a few ideas in there - feel free to use the comments or sign up for an account and create your own pages (particularly in the two books about development and web site work).

RE: [Shorewall-announce] Burn Out
Tom, Thanks for all your hard work on this project. I will also volunteer to = help co-ordinate the Quick Start Guide, Samples and/or other = documentation efforts. If you have suggestions or "to-do" lists, they = would be helpful, of course. Steve H. (and interested others): we should probably keep further doc = support conversations off the announce list, probably just on the devel

devel.shorewall.net
Hi folks, Over the weekend Ron has made some good progress with functionality available at http://devel.shorewall.net, and i''ve converted all of the content i had placed at http://shorewall.dyndns.org (which is now a redirect to the former). Please have a look around and give your feedback, either here or on the site itself. -- Paul <http://paulgear.webhop.net> -- Did you know?

Re: Shorewall development web site (Mike Noyes)
Hello, I leave for a couple days .. (Well months) and look at what has happened. :-) I would throw my support in behind Xoops .. to be honest .. If a portal is what we are trying to achieve here. I just happen to think that sometimes .. More work goes into web design etc than goes into actual Code. But thats because I am a lamer at web design :-) I am coming in here a bit late .. But tell

Proxy ARP - Pros & Cons
In a previous thread, Tom listed advantages (reproduced below) of Proxy ARP over NAT. They are great reasons, but I have one reservation. By using private addresses with NAT for servers in my DMZ, I can granularly allow specific traffic, such as to/from the SMTP gateway/relay in the DMZ, to connect inbound from the DMZ to an internal (LOC) mail server, and know that it comes only from a

1.3.2 Documentation
Ron and Steve, I am ready to begin the documentation changes for 1.3.2. Are you close to having any of your changes ready for release? If so, we can get those into CVS before I begin my changes -- if not, then I''ll go ahead and update CVS with the 1.3.2 material. Please let me know. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall - iptables made easy AIM: tmeastep \ http://www.shorewall.net

The future of Shorewall
As most of you already know, I have decided to terminate my involvement with the Shorewall project. Many of you have written to me expressing concern about the future of Shorewall and some of you have offered to help in various ways. I''m sending this post to assure you that Shorewall is not going away and that capable people are commited to ensuring that Shorewall continues. Paul Gear

Docs - QSG & Samples Issues
Attached is file "QSG-issues-1.0.txt" containing a numbered and commented list of issues collected from contributors and recent lists activity. It might be cool to have these issues in some spiffy issue tracking system like RT or something, but for a low tech start it''ll probably suffice. COMMENTS - IMHO (no particular order): I have searched the archives for additional

Docs - Structure Musings
IMHO, our big picture challenge is that multiple explanations for several topics are spread out over several different docs and pages One parameter is frequently discussed in four or more places (QSG, files reference pages, file comments, main documentation, etc.) That gives multiple perspectives, which can be good, but can also lead to at least the appearance, especially to a beginner, of

Shorewall 1.3.4 Preview
I''ve established a web site (http://wookie.shorewall.net) where you can see the changes that I''m making to the documentation for the upcoming release (currently 1.3.4). Since Ron has been tied up with other projects, I''ve taken a hack at rewriting the Quick Start Guide. It''s been broken into three separate guides as several people suggested and the two- and

Docs Issue - IP Masq vs. SNAT
More than one of our docs issues revolve around some confusion between "IP masquerading" and "SNAT" -- a confusion I might share, or if contagious, I may be catching. <g> I think of SNAT more or less as a special case of IP masquerading, applicable when, for example, the external interface has multiple IP''s and you choose to _explicitly_ set the address through

Invitation to a new Q&A statistical-analysis website
There is a new initiative to open a community based Q&A website which is based on the StackOverFlow engine - to answer data-analysis (and obviously R) related Questions. After good several months of using StackOverFlow (see the R tagged questions here <http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/R>), I came to the conclusion that it offers a very good web 2.0 solution for collaborative

Anybody Configure Shorewall w/ Sangoma WANPipe T1?
Hi, I learned about shorewall a few days ago and am quite impressed with how easy it was to create a powerful firewall. I set up a test system with a cable modem and it worked flawlessly. I''m going to be building a Router/Firewall for a new T1 that will be using a Sangoma WANpipe card w/ integrated CSU/DSU to connect to a T1. Has anybody done this yet, or do you know if it''s
