Windows 10 temporary profile error, when domain remote profile directory exists and is empty
Mandi! Konstantin Boyandin via samba In chel di` si favelave... > It's kind of inconvenient to remove empty profile each time a user > wishes to log on to a new domain member. I don't know if it is related, but i was forced to add to smb.conf: socket options = TCP_NODELAY TCP_KEEPIDLE=240 TCP_KEEPCNT=4 TCP_KEEPINTVL=15 because profile disconnection was 'too quick',

No, because effectively SMB2+ does not pass anymore host name; Yes, because in AD now you have DNS, and so a

samba 3.5.6 & win2k8 r2, session request fails
Hi I've been trying to join a debian6 (IP: 172.16.0.180) box to a win2k8 r2 active directory (ORCHARD, IP: 172.16.0.200), without much success. The settings for samba and kerberos are correct: - and kinit works fine The error string returned is: 'failed to lookup DC info for domain 'ARIAS.INT' over rpc: The network name cannot be found'

Cannot login to Samba server remotely
Hi, can't seem to login to Samba Server using notebook. OS is FreeBSD 10.3. Samba Version is 4.6.6 Connect to the remote Samba server using L2TP/IPSec connection. When trying to login it's not accepting the correct credentials. When ssh'ing to the server can login without any issue: # smbclient -Uusername //server/share Enter SERVERNAME\username's password: Domain=[DOMAINNAME]

Logon scripts and AD...
I'm a bit confused. How i can set a netlogon script? Samba wiki seems does not contain hint, smb.conf manpage does not explicitly reference 'logon script' option as 'deprecated' (or non working) one in AD. So: a) 'logon script' work in AD mode? b) the correct way to set netlogon script are via GPO? Like in:

Any risks of modifying tcp_keepidle etc params?
Hi folks Recently, I find that the number of the smbd connections may increase if the network is abnormal. And the repeated connections will exist for a long time (which is not accepted for me) So, I modify the following params and shorten the existing time of those repeated connections: TCP_KEEPCNT 3 TCP_KEEPIDLE 60 TCP_KEEPINTVL 15 My concern is that: Are there any

pam_mount in 'newer samba'...
Hai Marco, Is the UPN set for this server. CIFS/hostnam.fqdn ? Does its A and PTR match with the "real" hostname? But i see : smb2_get_dfs_refer rc Not commenting on this expect... upgrade the servers.. ;-) Try : apt install keyutils this might be missing and is needed for CIFS kerberos mounts mount -t cifs -o user=USER,domain=DOMAIN,cruid=USER,sec=krb5,vers=3.0

knit and smbclient executed with different users but no error thrown
Hi Paul, I think -U is just ignored when -k and a valid ticket is available. Here you have a valid ticket, you use -k to ask smbclient to use credentials from that ticket, and you add -U for another user. Please try same smbclient command without -k, it should ask you the password for test123 user. That's not a bug, for me it is a lack of documentation on how to use -k switches with almost

WINS doesn't work on some ip addresses in multihome setup
Hello everybody! Still struggeling with my latest Samba setup, I've just run accross another problem which I can't figure out on my own. Samba is supposed to act as a WINS server (among other things) on a multihomed machine. (The Samba version is 3.5.1 as part of Debian Squeeze) Here's the [global] part of the samba setup: ----------------------------------- 8<

Automaticaly unlock files
Ah, a workaround! I'd seen something like this on an old thread but I've always tried to stay away from socket options. I'll give these a try. Thanks for your help P.S.: strange that I don't see more people "complaining" about this.... pam_mount in 'newer samba'...
Sorry for a rather 'unifornative' subject, but i've little o no clue on this. I'm using at work 'pam_mount' with a rather standard configuration to mount via CIFS/SMB user's home directory, from a samba AD member server. This configuration is a bit 'old' (mint sonya, AKA Ubuntu 16.04 as a client, so samba 4.3; debian and samba 4.8 as a server), but work

Upgrade DC 4.5 -> 4.8, timings?
Well, if you want Rowland to hear us.. You should have send this one to the list. ;-) On the "which first" here there are different opinions. My opinion is, if you systems is running correctly, it does not matter if you start with the DC with FSMO or not. But Note, this is my opinion and base on my experience. I've always done the server with FSMO first, why? .. Ough..

'check password script' ignored in AD mode?
I'm trying to play with 'check password script' in AD mode, and seems to me that are simply ignored, at least when users logged on windows clients and (try to) change the password. I've also noted if i use other tools (eg, samba-tool for example) 'check password script' get executed. I've looked around, and seems that 'check password script' came back in 4.5,

Upgraded a member server to 4.8, rfc2307 data?
Mandi! L.P.H. van Belle via samba In chel di` si favelave... > And in addition to Rowland comment, i'll show how i use it. Thanks. I add a note myself. Only 'non-primary groups' get listed in memberOf/member data in LDAP, so if you need to get 'group membership' for other tools/app/... you 'lost' (apart doing some complex queries...) the default group.
