[Samba] Trouble renaming file and folders, SMB2+ or newer samba (4.8)?
Little more then a curiosity. Swithcing from Samba 4.2/NT to Samba 4.8/AD, many users complain about they have difficulty to rename files and folder (windows error say 'busy file'). We have added to smb.conf: socket options = TCP_NODELAY TCP_KEEPIDLE=240 TCP_KEEPCNT=4 TCP_KEEPINTVL=15 and this helped a bit, but still in some situation (where surely there's only one user in that file/folder) 'lock' hit. Eg, user A modify file F, then close it, then try immediately to rename the file or the folder that contain the file, and windows reply with 'busy file'. It is a new feature of SMB2+? Or samba internally changed something? As i remember, i've never hitted that on Samba in NT mode... -- dott.
