Samba 64 bit compilation
Which platform?
If on Solaris 10 sparc, GCC (either from Sun or sunfreeware.com) should
be 64-bit by default.
GCC from Sunfreeware for Solaris 10 x86 will compile 32-bit by default.
For Solaris, you are better off using Sun Studio and Dmake. Actually,
you are better off just using the compiled version from Oracle/Sun.

Samba 3.4.17 -Solaris10_U10- make- Fatal error with talloc
Hi,
This is Prabu. I am trying to compile samba on Solaris 10_U10.
I have posted the same in bugzilla. https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8939
User requirement is to compile samba 3.4.17 to support their application. 3.4.17 is working on Solaris 9 and Solaris 10_U5. But not on Solaris 10_U10.
./configure and make gives error related to talloc. I have set the PKG_CONFIG_PATH. It is not

How to make RTP Packets NOT passing thru Asterisk?
Hello All,
Currently my setup uses Xlite and Asterisk and i found that all the RTP
voice packets are transfered via the asterisk server from one xlite to
another. Is there any possibility that we can make all the RTP Packets to be
transfered directly between the two clients once the connection is
established?.
Any one please help me.
Thanks and Regards,

Windows Genuine Advantage
If this is off subject or has already been addressed, sorry. "Windows
Genuine Advantage" looks like a move to make wine worthless. What I
mean is that M$ development API pushes windows developers' applications
to require you install IE 6.0 (soon 7.0) or later, making IE a key part
of wine. If IE requires Genuine MicroSoft (Windows Genuine Advantage)
to install, then most if not all

Query regarding libvorbis
Dear all,
I recently downloaded libvorbis from the Xiph.org website. I would like to
compile it using a cross compiler because I would like to import it to the
filesystem of an embedded machine.
Hence, I tried to alter the CC of the makefile and change it to the
directory of the cross compiler instead of the original gcc that was there.
However, the change did not get implemented, and further to

New to asterisk? RUN... don't walk.
As a newcomer to Asterisk, you will not be welcomed
with open arms. First, you will find almost no
documentation on it's features. Second, if you try to
ask questions, you will be flamed and pointed to
worthless how-tos and 'the wiki'. These worthless
documents can only be useful for explaining how things
work to those already in-the-know. Lastly, Asterisk
is so bug ridden, expect

Evolution
When I set up the Evolution mail agent, I could find no way to change
the outbound port from 25 to 587. I have to do this due to port 25
being blocked by the cable company. Thunderbird is no problem. Altho I
don't particularly use Evolution as a mail agent, there are times when I
might use it, but its worthless without being able to send mail out to
my server. Did I miss something in

Do note that not everyone is running a Debian based system,
so "the current Debian Testing binary packages" are worthless to us.

configure optimization

Given a server with MySQL userdb/passwd and maildir storage, excluding unused
storages and authentications in configure options does save some memory and/or
speed or is it worthless?
I mean, is there a performance difference between this two versions of configure
parameters or is just a waste of time to exclude what is not used?

FXS with v.90 modem support?
I have a couple of devices that need an analog modem to communicate
outside of our Asterisk system. Most FXS gateways don't seem to
support this... I have a stack of Sipura 2002's that are, AFAIK,
worthless for this purpose.
I've heard that Digium's IAXy FXS will work with modems, but I can't
find any reference to that in their documentation. There is also the
