similar to: Installing onto Windows

Hello.  I am totally new to Samba. I would like to network 2 computers, Linux and Windows.I've looked over the install instructions but have no idea what it all means.I already have Samba in my Linux.  It detects the other computer's Windows but times out. Do I assume correctly that both computers need Samba to network them?What essentially do I do to install and use Samba in Windows 7?

Hi all, I am having a very strange issue with Samba, users who are not the owner of files but are in the same group cannot delete or rename files via Windows. For example the user ?sean? in the ?storage.access? group CANNOT delete or rename a folder called temp via windows but CAN delete or rename via terminal session. Hi, I am having some problems setting permissions to access a Samba share on my Windows XP box. So what follows is all the information I thought would be useful to helping me out. Because I'm a masochist, I decided to port my previous (and much older) Samba configuration running a (much older) Slackware implementation to a (much) new server (running Debian Jessie) without actually looking at how to migrate it. Great fun, lots of problems to solve now. The problem of the moment: /var/log/samba/log.smbd tells me it cannot find the domain info in the ldap backend.
