Samba 3.5.4 canonicalize_connect_path failed for service
Hi, Jeremy, I know our linux os is too old, but there is some histories that I have few choices to update. I can try newer samba version, if that helps. But, do you know how to solve this question at first? Hope you kindly share some of your experiences. Thank you. samba4 [homes] | canonicalize_connect_path failed for service
Hi, Meanwhile we've come many steps further, and a new issue has risen. In samba4 AD we have a user with: - homeDirectory \\server\username - homeDrive P: - scriptPath logon.bat When this user logs on, logon.bat is executed successfully, but homeDirectory is NOT mounted on P: and in the logs we see: canonicalize_connect_path failed for service username, path /\\server\username It seems

canonicalize_connect_path failed for service
Hi, Our setup: Samba (classic) DC: cdr-dc01 Samba (classic) member server: cdr-fs01. This is also a file server AD realm: CDR.internal We migrated to AD and came across an issue with accessing shares. The shares in question worked pre-migrated. i.e using a windows machine a user was able to access that share. The share in question was locked down to just that user Post migration, we are able

canonicalize_connect_path failed for service
Hi Rowland, Sorry about the confusion. I was referring to Samba PDC which we classicupgraded to AD DC. So it is AD DC The ranges don't overlap, there was a typo, it was meant to idmap config * : range = 3000-7999 idmap config CDR:range = 10000-110000 getent passwd of the users in member server gives me user01:3029:3000: The uid number of the user in question according to AD is 1070. gid

canonicalize_connect_path failed for service
Hi Rowland, We did the classicupgrade. Post the classicupgrade, we added a Windows 2008R2 server and dcpomo'd it. The original Samba box (classic DC) was where we did the classicupgrade. Did you mean that we need to shut that box down? Leaving a Windows DC (FSMO?) and Samba member server? Sorry I was not aware of this step. What if we hadn't added a Windows 08 box? Here is the

R for Windows crash on new laptop
I'm trying to use a contributed package (rmetasim) to generate simulated genetic datasets. My scripts work fine when I run them on a Sun workstation running Solaris 7 and when I run them on a ~4 year old laptop PC that I have. However, when I run them on my new laptop (Dell Latitude D410 purchased in August 2005), the simulation will run for a short (variable) period of time, then R

R for Windows crash on new laptop - corrected script
I realized that the script I included in my original post (see below) was written for an older version of rmetasim and will not work with the current version. The only change that need be made to get my script to run with the latest release of rmetasim is to change the command 'simulate.landscape()' to 'sim.landscape()'. My apologies to anyone who tried to use my script and

E1 not synchronized
Hello, We're using OpenVox D410 to connect Asterisk 1.4.21.2 box to E1 line from local telco operator. Once in a while we experienced lines always busy. I'm not sure but reported as sometime on making outgoing calls only, sometime both outgoing and incoming. Rebooting (not just restarting asterisk) solved the problem, lines become available and everything works as previous. Engineers at

Hi, I am a linux user at work in a Windows shop trying to IT wants to move all the developers from a shared file server to a more private file server. The setup is that we have a server by the name of "fileserver". The directory where I am supposed to store my file is in //fileserver/users/tek. Tek-Tips Samba Forum
I was really happy to see that someone has created a forum for Samba at the Tek-Tips web site. I use the Tek-Tips site for other subjects, especially Visual Basic and Unix and find it absolutely brilliant for getting smart advice quickly. The Tek-Tips site is very well maintained, and I would like to see the Samba forum become as popular as some of the other subjects. This mailing list is very

RE: A Suggestion
Trevor, you are right; this is a great forum for help, but the interface definitely leaves some things to be desired. In my very humble opinion, I would love it if every message that appeared on this list was also posted to the Samba forum on Tek-Tips; www.tek-tips.com (search for forum called andrew tridgell: samba) which has a beautiful interface. Tek-Tips makes it so easy to follow a

Wanted - Samba Gurus to help
Hi, there are a few questions posted on the new Samba forum on Tek-Tips web site http://www.tek-tips.com/threadminder.cfm?SPID=865&CFID=34009252&CFTOKEN=12959894 which I am sure would be easily answered by some of the gurus on this list. You may be asking - "Why don't they just post the questions on this list?" Certainly, they could, but having used the Tek-Tips forum for

Issues accessing ZFS-shares on Linux
Hi, I am having a really strange problem with my Samba shares on Debian Buster. None of the users can access any shares, which reside on ZFS-filesystem. Any other share works just fine. For example, if I create a normal folder to /home with same permissions and replace a ZFS-share with that, it works fine. When accessing any ZFS-shares the following error is recorded: Jan 08 22:39:56

machine trusts connecting to shares
Hi All, I am running 3.4.7 on Ubuntu Lucid. I setup ldap auth in PAM and let that handle all the authentication with the 2003 AD Server (where the users groups, ect are stored). It works great, but one little issue is driving me nuts. On some users (can't figure out the difference) when they log into their machine, I see in the Samba logs that the machine_name_ is trying to connect

Illegal filenames produced by rename
Greetings. I have a Windows share mounted via Samba. I recently tried to rename some files; the destination filenames had some high-bit characters. The renaming had some completely unexpected consequences; the new filenames now contain the full pathname (including backslashes), plus other illegal characters (colons). The files can no longer be accessed or modified, either from the remote

Change in behaviour for the "%U" substitution in 4.10.8?
I opted for 'remove the SERVER lines' (since I don't remember why they are in there) - but this hasn't changed the behaviour. The log file contains a different error message, but still refers to the incorrect path --- [2019/09/06 09:43:14.955067,? 0] ../../source3/smbd/service.c:784(make_connection_snum) ? make_connection_snum: canonicalize_connect_path failed for service
