Just compiled a custom kernel, but unable to mount a btrfs partition. It essentially says ''unrecognized filesystem''. What could be missing? # File systems # CONFIG_EXT2_FS=y CONFIG_EXT2_FS_XATTR=y CONFIG_EXT2_FS_POSIX_ACL=y CONFIG_EXT2_FS_SECURITY=y # CONFIG_EXT2_FS_XIP is not set CONFIG_EXT3_FS=y CONFIG_EXT3_DEFAULTS_TO_ORDERED=y CONFIG_EXT3_FS_XATTR=y

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
Hi Rowland, >From the top down, I'm going to try and cover every step involved in the wiki and give you as much info as I can in the hope that we can get this issue resolved, or at least determine that there is nothing wrong with my config and that the underlying array has to be the weak point, even if none of us know why. *Step 1: Filesystem support* We need the filesystem to support

"missing security tab" and related ACL issues
At a customer server (gentoo linux, so far only Samba version 4.7.7) we tried to use Windows ACLs and failed: no security tab in Windows ... for local C: yes, not on samba shares Yes, I followed https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs and have the vfs module enabled etc - Now I consider that the kernel doesn't have the necessary flags set. I get #

Domain Member Server: Domain Users cannot access shares
Mediawiki is throwing an error at this moment but I followed that page when I set up the shares and triple checked everything when I last reset ACLs. hello Marc thanks for your help there are only the two mount points as shown in my fstab file, everything is mounted under root except for the home directory. i carried out the test on the os_requirements page to test the filesystem, the test returned outputs as shown on the page, there were no "Operation not supported" errors so i assume the kernel is configured correctly and the

jbd/kjournald oops on 2.6.30.1
Hi, I am getting the following Oops on 2.6.30.1 kernel. The bad part is, it happens rarely (twice in last 1.5 months) and the system is pretty lightly loaded when this happens (no heavy file/disk io). Any insights or patches that I can try? (i searched lkml and ext3 lists but could not find any similar oops/reports). == Oops =================== BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer

do not allow users to login twice
Sorry, I didn't explain my problem well enough... The problem is not that a domain user logs in on one specific computer several times. I tried that. It's not even possible. You only login to the same profile on the same computer again. So this is ok. The problem is that a domain user is logged in on two computers simultaneously. I tried that. That's possible. But I don't want

do not allow users to login twice
Hello, I plan to have roaming profiles and I do not want users to login twice with the same account on different work stations because then I guess there could be problems of synchronising back to the server and possible loss of data... What would be the best way to allow one user to login just on one computer and not on more computers simultaneously? (They should be able to login everywhere so

just logins now and shares later
Hey, I'm still waiting for the new file server hardware to arrive so I plan to enable user logins in the meantime without profiles and home directories. Reason for this is quite some pressure from people. The setup on the 2 DCs should be done a day or two. Could there be problems if I configure profiles and home directories some weeks after users logged in for the first time? What if e.g.

updating question
I have existing domain controllers running v4.6.7 installed from source (on Ubuntu OS.) I see that the install from source system requirements have changed for Debian/Ubuntu OS on the https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Operating_System_Requirements page. There are some additional packages listed that were not in my original build of v4.6.7. The additional packages include libarchive-dev,

I'd like to set up a Samba DC, an additional DC and a Samba file server. Everything is configured with RAID 1. I encrypt all partitions except partition /boot (which is also on RAID). What partitions, partition sizes, file system types do you use on your Samba DC, additional DC and file server? Is there something like "best practice"? kind regards, birgit

user login passwords are mixed up
Hello, In what samba version is parameter "old password allowed period" introduced? This parameter seems be the remedy to my problem but I cannot find it with "testparm -v | grep password" or in my "man smb.conf" Does it even exist in 4.1.17 (just the regular debian package)? In this document it says it is for samba version 4: https://www.mankier.com/5/smb.conf I
