Samba pid in uninterruptible state
Greetings, I recently upgraded Samba on an Ubuntu 14.04.2 server from version 4.1.9 to 4.2.3. Upon rebooting Samba process goes into a running state then after a short time it will go into an uninterruptible state. If I check the log.samba, it appears that it is attempting to start, then hangs at the following: [2016/06/23 15:16:00.329503, 3] ../source4/param/share.c:124(share_register)

Samba process pegging CPU
Greetings, I'm currently experiencing an issue with two of my three Samba servers where one Samba process is pegging the CPU usage and eating up a lot of virtual and resident memory. While this is happening I get a "ERROR(runtime): DsReplicaGetInfo of type 0 failed - (-1073610723, 'NT_STATUS_RPC_PROTOCOL_ERROR')" error when I try to run the samba-tool drs showrepl command.

DomainDnsZones inbound replication issue
Here's my edited smb.conf and the output of the testparm. As you can see I'm not setting that in my smb.conf and it appears to be turned on by default in Samba 4.4.4. I was going to update Samba on DC1 to 4.4.4 as well, but haven't done that yet. It's currently on 4.2.3. Should I upgrade that as well before changing anything else? Thanks! samba-tool dns serverinfo
Good Afternoon, I successfully joined an Ubuntu 14.04 server with Samba 4.1.9 to my existing domain. I want this server to become my Master, but before I attempt to seize roles, I have been double and triple checking all of the configuration files and DNS entries. I noticed that this server's dns serverinfo differs from the other three servers. For it's aipServerAddrs and aipListenAddrs,

DomainDnsZones inbound replication issue
Greetings, I am having a problem with one of my DCs (DC3) replicating DomainDnsZones. On DC3 replication is successful on both Inbound and Outbound with both of my other DCs. On both of my other DCs (DC1 & DC2) I only get a failure with Inbound replication for DomainDnsZones from DC3 with a result 8442 (WERR_DS_DRA_INTERNAL_ERROR). If I try to force replication to DC3 from DC1 using

Non Functioning Internal DNS - Samba4
?? Recently one of my Samba4 (4.2.0 Ver) Domain Controllers started acting up. Authentication against it would time out and fail, but until recently the internal DNS was still working. Now the internal DNS fails. If I use nslookup and set the server to it, then look up any hostname I get "connection timed out; no servers could be reached". This DC is my primary and has all FSMO roles. I

Replication and DNS issue
Greetings, I recently setup a new server to join an existing domain as a DC. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 server and downloaded and installed Samba 4.1.8. The installation went well and once completed I joined the domain with the following command - samba-tool domain join mydomain DC -Uadministrator --realm=mydomain (actual name changed). I got the Joined domain as a DC message. I followed the steps

Samba4 Replication Errors
Greetings, I recently promoted a new DC in our existing domain. The existing domain consists of two domain controllers running Samba Version 4.2.0pre1-GIT-b505111 on Ubuntu 12.04 Server. The newly promoted DC is also running Ubuntu 12.04 server, but Samba Version 4.1.8. The promotion was successful and after a few tweaks to DNS, replication is working. It is however failing on some items and

Demote and Re-Promote?
Greetings, I have a DC that is having issues replicating DomainDnsZones to my other DCs (WERR_DS_DRA_INTERNAL_ERROR). All of the searching I have done indicate a corrupt database. So I am wondering if it is possible to demote that server, delete all contents of the private directory, and then re-promote it to resolve the issue. Does that sound like a reasonable fix and\or is there anything I

Transfer of FSMO Roles
Good Afternoon, I've been working towards decommissioning my current PDC and moving Primary Master to a newly built DC. I was able to successfully transfer each of the five FSMO roles (without seizing) to the new server. I can run samba-tool fsmo show on each of my servers and they all return the new DC with each of the five roles. My question is...shouldn't transferring of the

Migrate SMB/LDAP to new server
I need to migrate my current LDAP/SMB PDC to a new server. I found the information on how to replace an existing server with a new system with the same name, but in my case, I still need the existing system to continue as a slave LDAP/SMB BDC. I used slapcat to get the ldap database, and then used this ldif to create the new ldap database on the new server. Linux logins work fine. I used

I patched the Win2K server just before this date. All accounts that were creaated prior to this date still appear. On the Linux system which is acting as the Samba PDC (and is using ldap), pdbedit -l

LDAP/Samba issues when replacing server
I hope that someone can let me know what I have done wrong. I need to replace and existing server (server1) with a new server (server2). Server1 is currently running LDAP/Samba (3.0.14). Profiles stored in /opt/samba/profiles I installed all of the pieces, and LDAP works (mostly, I have an issue, see below) I ran net getlocalsid DOMAINNAME on server1 used the SID value in net setlocalsid

Cannot join Windows XP Pro to new Samba 4 AD
I have upgraded my Samba3+LDAP system to Samba 4 following the instructions given here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/samba-tool/domain/classicupgrade/HOWTO I did this on a test server (so I also moved the ldap database, installed openldap, etc). The installation passes all the simple tests suggested here:
