Greetings, I recently upgraded Samba on an Ubuntu 14.04.2 server from version 4.1.9 to 4.2.3. Upon rebooting Samba process goes into a running state then after a short time it will go into an uninterruptible state. If I check the log.samba, it appears that it is attempting to start, then hangs at the following: [2016/06/23 15:16:00.329503, 3] ../source4/param/share.c:124(share_register) SHARE backend [ldb] registered. It sits here until it goes into uninterruptible sleep state. Then if I kill samba processes, the log.samba will return the following: [2016/06/23 15:17:50.595410, 0] ../source4/smbd/server.c:116(sig_term) SIGTERM: killing children [2016/06/23 15:17:50.595729, 0] ../source4/smbd/server.c:121(sig_term) Exiting pid 2544 on SIGTERM [2016/06/23 15:17:50.599791, 0] ../lib/ldb-samba/ldb_wrap.c:72(ldb_wrap_debug) ldb: A transaction is still active in ldb context [0x7f324e9679b0] on /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb Any ideas on how to resolve the issue with the ldb transaction still being active? Is it safe to assume that this is holding it up from completing start up? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Jason, I didn't run them initially because the wiki stated it was for earlier versions (4.0.X earlier than what I had installed). I'm running a samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs --fix now. Will report back (likely Monday) once it completes. Thanks!
