[LLVMdev] Emotional responses to feedback
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to have the chance to speak with a very successful businessman at the top of his niche, and I asked him, "Clearly you have a formula for success, what is it?" He told me his secret. He said that every month they pull a name out of a bucket, and that person must then prepare a 20 minute presentation explaining why one of their COMPETITOR'S

Showdown -- A javascript port of Markdown
Hi, I've just posted the first public version of Showdown, a full javascript port of Markdown. It's 10KB and works in all major browsers. Try out the sample app: <http://www.attacklab.net/showdown-gui.html> Full source code is available: <http://www.attacklab.net/showdown-v0.9.zip> All the heavy lifting is done by the browser's regular expression engine, so

Educational App Problem (4nec2x): Fail When 3d Window Closed
I've looked at the faq page, searched through the forum (users), looked around appdb and did a tenative look in the bugzilla and can't seem to find my problem so here goes: When using my antenna analysis app, 4nec2x (free and easy to find), Wine performs like a champ in all respects save one. If I open the 3d window (by pushing F9), the performance is as is to be expected unless you

with_scope and filters for Rails 1.1 (scoped_access plugin)
Has anyone successfully gotten the scoped_access[1] plugin to work in Rails 1.1? Some of the methods it was relying on are now no longer accessible. It seems the only way to add scope is to use the ''with_scope'' method that takes a block, but since Rails doesn''t have real around filters[2] I cannot see a way of adding a scope using a filter. Anyone using with_scope

Slightly OT: Cron for Logrotate and Squid
Howdy list, Hey does anyone know what the best cron job is to call logrotate to run the squid logrotations? -Or the subscribe address for a squid or logrotate mailing list (can't seem to find anything other than the usual MARC archives). I have this in /etc/logrotate.conf # rotate log files daily, they get too big otherwise, another story. daily # keep 8 weeks worth of backlogs e.g. 60

FAST MONEY!!!!!!
DO YOU WANT TO MAKE EASY MONEY? I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars WITHIN WEEKS with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was

Horizontally maximized window on last viewport
Hi, I posted this on the forum as well, but there were no responses to it. I now posting it here just in case anybody cares. Anyway, Compiz is a very nice program. Thanks for all the effort you put into making it. I am using the latest git version of compiz and it really works great for being an "unstable" version. Anyway, I noticed the following strange behavior and was wondering

Netbios over ipsec (slightly ot)
Hi, This issue might be a slightly offtopic, but someone might have experience with it. Thanks for reading this post anyway. I have the following setup: Network 10.227.7.X is connected over a wlan (172.1.1.1 <-> 172.1.1.2) to network 128.1.1.X. This setup works, I have cross-subnet browsing going and I am able to login. When I enable IPSEC (raccoon (linux <-> freebsd)) I am still

Clicking Problems with slightly clipped audio
It appears that both the echo canceller and the noise reducer (NR) introduce rather severe clicking artifacts when presented with audio that has slightly overloaded the A/D converters. I am talking about speech that sounds just slightly distorted, due to clipping, when simply played back. If I pass that speech through the echo canceller or the noise reducer, it acquires really loud clicks and/or

Specifying State Space model to decompose structural shocks
Dear all: Greetings! I am trying to replicate a simple state space model in R, using the package 'dlm'. This model has two observation equations and three state equations. Each observation equation represents structural shocks based on SVAR for country i, where i=1 to 2. The structural shocks (S1 and S2) are to be decomposed into common (sv1) and country-specific (sv2, sv3) shocks. We

Dune 2000 freezes after a few minutes - Any ideas?
Hi there. I got a problem with good old Dune2000. Installing works fine and the game starts too. After a few minutes of fine gameplay (2-5 minutes [Rolling Eyes] ) the game freezes. Before the game freezeses, the cursor runs kinda too fast. It rotates like crazy but the game works normal. Any ideas? I'am using Linux Mint Helena 8 and Wine 1.2 (now rc 5). And yes, I patched the game to version

Ices generates lots of email warnings
I can't say whether this is either an Ices or a CentovaCast issue, but there are certain programs that play perfectly normally but generate just piles of email about invalid sample rates or frames containing metadata that's not supported. Is there a way to turn these emails off? One of them recently was over four thousand lines long, which really shocked me, and it takes a lot to shock me.
