Unable to map more than 4 workspaces to keyboard shortcuts on C7.
Hi,
I have a new install of c7 with the gnome desktop. I run it with 12 workspaces.
Normally I create the shortcuts so that ctrl+f1 maps to workspace 1 ctrl+f2
maps to f2, etc. When I goto applications -> settings -> keyboard -> shortcuts
-> navigation, I only have the ability to define "Switch to workspace" 1
through 4. There does not appear to be a way to map keyboard

Menu Bar KeyBoard Shortcuts.
Hello,
I''m trying to use a wxMenuBar from XRC built with DialogBlocks on Windows.
My first example had the menu being called from the Frame because I couldn''t figure out
how to call the menu from my XRC. Shortcuts worked nicely.
Example 1:
menu.append(Wx::ID_EXIT, "E&xit\tAlt-X", "Quit this program")
tool.append(Wx::ID_PHOTO, "&MS Picture

New kernel and keyboard shortcuts
Has anyone else noticed or had a problem with keyboard shortcuts not
working properly after the last kernel update? I'm finding on my 64-bit
home system that even <alt><f4> no longer works in my terminal windows,
and none of the normal keyboard shortcuts in OOo work properly either.
Just curious if it's just me....

custom shortcuts
I'm trying to define my long time keyboard shortcuts in compiz on a new
FC6 system with gnome. I want <Alt>n to run a shell and <Shift><Alt>p for
pan. In metacity I could set the shell shortcut from
System->Preferences->keyboard shortcuts, and for something like pan (which
was not in the menu) I could do it in gconf-editor (apps->metacity, etc.).

Possible to implement Textmate key shortcuts in RadRails?
The Rails demo videos is a great showoff on how productive Textmate editor
is. The 15 minute build-a-blog example should be twice as long if there had
been no keyboard shortcuts in Textmate.
Unfortunately, I use windows and thus RadRails. Does anyone know how to
implement the same keyboard shortcut into RadRails?
Sebastian Friedrich made an overview of the keyboard shortcuts:

Gnome desktop, workspaces and windows
I was editing a file in gvim when I inadvertently pressed some key combination
that caused the vim window to disappear from the desktop. I looked in ps and
found that it was still running. Checking the tool bar at the bottom of my
display I noticed that a large rectangle now occupied the second of four boxes
on the extreme right hand side. Clicking on that box brought back the gvim
instance but

Logitech G11 keyboard under wine
Hello,
I have a logitech G11 keyboard which has some extra keys - about 21 extra keys.
Under Linux with the use of g15daemon and using the 'logitech_g15' XkbModel, all keys are working and can be mapped to keyboard shortcuts under gnome for example.
Pressing the key G2 under xev outputs the following:
keycode 152 (keysym 0x1008ff45, XF86Launch5)
Unfortunatelly under wine the

Startup programs in specific workspaces
I have a specific method of using my five GNOME workspaces to perform
certain categories of tasks when I log in on a machine, so I just had
a thought.
Is there a way to specify, say from a login script, for an application
to start up in a particular workspace, preferably with a specific
"screen" location?
Or is this a gnome question?
Thanks.

Lotus Notes 7.03 crash when changing workspaces
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with five workspaces set up in GNOME. I assume
it's using compiz (I didn't tell it not to), which I know can interact
problematically with Wine.
I use Notes 7.03 for Windows quite happily in Wine at work. (I know
there's a Linux client, but the installer seems very hard to get hold
of casually.) As long as I use only one workspace. If I open it in one

question about working with workspaces
Hello everybody,
Two - I hope Simple questions about working with workspaces.
Is there a way to force R to start in "clean" workspace / avoid "previously
saved workspace restored"?
When I load workspace"2" working in workspace"1" everything from "1" is
written into "2" is there a way to avoid it?
Best regards,

CentOS 7 : keyboard shortcut for mouse gesture?
Hi,
I have a CentOS 7 (GNOME) desktop installed as a VirtualBox guest on my
Slackware64 14.1 workstation, to fiddle with it. Guest Additions are
installed and configured OK, and 3D acceleration is working too.
In its default configuration, the GNOME desktop under CentOS shows an
"expos?" (I don't know how you call this), a list of all open windows,
when you move the mouse cursor to

Wine, Windowmaker and the workspace-shortcut
Hi all, I am using wine from SuSe 7.3 Pro on Windomaker to run my Lotus
Notes under Linux.
My Question: How can I still use my windowmaker-shortcuts to switch to the
next workspace (Ctrl-Alt-Right/Left) while running Wine .... Wine does not
give me the possibility while running the windows application (Lotus
Notes) to accept this shortcut for Windowmaker ... is there a chance to
change or

Noob Question: Keyboard Shortcut - Enter Date - Time
In X (preferably Gnome), is there a way I can set a keyboard shortcut to
enter the date (preferably in a configurable format) into the current

Keyboard layout switching bug: workaround?
Hi,
I'm an Austrian writer living in Montpezat (South France). I've been 100%
GNU/Linux for the past five years, and I recently switched from Slackware to
CentOS, for the sake of comfort. Overall impression: I like it!
I have a few problems to solve yet in my migration effort, mostly minor
annoyances. First things first.
I need three different keyboard layouts: de, fr_CH and fr. I'm

[PATCH] shared compression workspaces limits doesnot match
In function find_workspace, it''s allowed to alloc cpus + 1 workspaces at most,
but in function free_workspace, it will freed the workspace if there
exists more then cpus'' workspaces.
The two limits doesn''t match. I thought the original itention is
allowed to alloc
cpus compression workspaces at most.

Set encoding when load()-ing workspaces?
Hi all,
I hope that there is someone that can help me out here.
I am trying to load() a workspace on os x (R 2.11.0) that was saved in
windows XP (R 2.9). In that workspace, there's a data.frame with names
that contain swedish characters. These characters become garbled,
which is a major problem.

To improve my understanding of workspaces
Hello.
I have grown accustomed to the .Data directory in S-Plus and so when
I came to R I continued that behaviour by saving my workspaces at
the end of each R session. So, I have saved workspaces in various
directories where I have used R just as I would have had various
.Data directories where I had used S-Plus.
I have seen comments on the list, most recently from Prof. Ripley

7.3: Gnome workspaces mirrored
An user is using 2 displays and configured Gnome to "Static Workspaces
only on primary display on" using gnome-tweak-tool
Till 7.2 it was working as expected. After upgrading to 7.3 the content
on the primary screen gets mirrored to all workspaces.
When switching to "Static Workspaces only on primary display off"
everything is working as expected on 7.3, too.
Any ideas?

Feature Request: Viewport Switching Plugin
Hi,
First of all, great job! :)
I really like to organise my work on, former known "workspaces", now
"viewports". I use currently use 9 so I have 3 for work, 3 for private
applications and 3 for other projects.
Using the viewports like this it happens to have
3 browser windows,
6 Document Viewers,
9 Terminals,

2 IDEs and
