Hylafax without modems - SIP?
I've just had to replace my Hylafax server as the cooling fan in the rack case
has died and could not be replaced.
My box runs three fax modems, one for each of the original 3 fax machines that
got skipped years ago.
This means that I now have 3 lots of:
USB to seral converter (new box doesn't have any COM ports.

HylaFax and Com Ports
I need to setup HylaFax which leads to my first question, anyone
got an opinion on whether or not to use HylaFax or HylaFax+?
Also, I have to setup a Digi serial port server for an external fax modem.
Any reco''s on a robust unit that won''t need to be reset often?
Thanks!

Asterisk = 11.3.0 (FreePBX)
Hylafax+ = 5.5.3 (epel)
I am installing an Asterisk server with the intent of having it act as
our fax server. The Asterisk system was installed using the current
FreePBX distro which is reputedly based on CentOS-6.3. I have
installed Hylafax+ from epel and I have built and packaged
IAXModem-1.2.0 for CentOS-6 using mock and

iaxmodem, chan_capi, hylafax problem and faxing in general
Can anybody point me in the right direction please? I'm having some issues
getting iaxmodem and hylafax to talk to each other.
I have no doubt that someone has had this type of issue before but I can't
find anything useful in the archives or on Google.
Under RH9, with chan_capi 7.1, Asterisk 1.2.24, with an AVI Fritz ISDN2e BRI
card all working perfectly...
I've downloaded and

Which RPM of Hylafax+ should I use?
I want to install Hylafax+, IAXmodem, and T38modem on my Trixbox 2.4
which is built on Centos 5.1 ("vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5").
Over at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=148904
there are Hylafax+ rpms for:
Fedora 7,8
Fedora Core 2,5,6
Redhat 7,9
I **think** Fedora Core 6?
IAXmodem is only available in source at

Issues running Asterisk + Iaxmodem + Hylafax on same machine
I'm running into a strange issue with Asterisk + Iaxmodem + hylafax on
the same machine. After rebooting the iaxmodems don't register to
asterisk. Stoping and starting the relevant services gets it working,
but what is the point of using init scripts if it does not work right?
I already tried to adjust the init scripts in /etc/rc3.d so I have:
S50asterisk
s90iaxmodem
S95hylafax
So it

(OT) HylaFAX, IAXModem, Asterisk
I have all three running on the same box. I say OT because it appears
asterisk is doing it's job just fine. It must be an IAXmodem or
faxgetty (hylafax) problem
When faxes work, they look great. I have ten IAXmodems setup with
different ports and they register fine. I have ten faxgettys that
startup fine. I start the IAXmodems and then faxgettys in inittab.
They are setup as a roll

Cisco IAXmodem HylaFAX
Hi,
I have a question:
In my company a have a 100% IP Telephony implemented (Cisco Phones, Routers,
Switches, etc).
We are connected to our operator by two E1 lines. The PBX is on operator
side (a H.323 Gateway is configured on call manager).
I study the possibility to implement a Hylafax server. In some sites I read
that with the IAXmodem is possible to have virtual modems, with don't so

CAPI (Eicon Diva V-4BRI), Hylafax & IAXModem
Hi Guys
Just wondering if you can help me and give me some pointers on what could be
wrong in my setup.
Everything seems to be installed. I have
Asterisk 1.2.12.1
FreePBX 1.2.3
IAXModem 0.1.15

The IAXmodem registers, faxgetty is starting in /var/log/messages but it
just doesn't seem to pickup the call.
In Chan_capi it says fax detected but no fax

Fax with Asterisk and T38Modem
Hi,
I'm fighting with HylaFAX, Asterisk and T38Modem since some time, to get
fax2mail and mail2fax working, my SIP-provider only supports T38 and
thus using G711 with IAXModem is not an option.
I have got running mail2fax with HylaFAX+ 5.5.0, Asterisk 1.4.20 and
T38Modem 2.0.0 successfull, but I'm not able to upgrade to anything
newer than Asterisk 1.4.24.
I was able to break down this

Asterisk + iaxmodem + hylafax makes sometimes wedged for hylafax
Hi, we have a faxserver with Asterisk, IAXModem and Hylafax.
Faxes come from a SIP trunk to Asterisk, then are forwarded throught 5 IAXModems managed with Hylafax.
Hylafax users can also send faxes to these modems and Asterisk send them throught the SIP trunk.
We also have a dedicated modem used only for sending faxes coming from an Hylafax dedicated user.
Sometimes Hylafax reports that a modem

iaxmodem / hylafax receive problem
Hi,
I'm trying to receive faxes using hylafax / iaxmodem but I just can't
get it to work. We're using Sangoma E1 cards and have calls coming in
over PSTN. I've tried turning hardware echo cancellation off but it
makes no difference. This is what I get in /var/spool/hylafax/log:
[root at faxhost log]# cat c000000003

Can't recieve Fax: No carrier detected - Asterisk + iaxmodem + Hylafax
I'm able to recieve fax with pure SpanDSP 0.0.2 + Asterisk successfully
but I have problems with some fax machine so I wanted to try using
HylaFax to recieve Fax instead of SpanDSP hoping that it'll solve my
problem. I'm trying to connect Asterisk with SpanDSP using iaxmodem. My
system looks like this:
ISDN <---> Asterisk <---> IAXModem <---> Hylafax

Why app_rx and app_tx when we have IAXModem and Hylafax and hy-email2fax? Should we reinvent the wheel?
I'm just wondering here, in our community... Why not HylaFax for Fax
solutions?
I'm not saying bad about the big efforts on app_tx and app_rx with spandsp.
But as me and many other asterisk users, we find out that
Hylafax+IAXModem+Asterisk is very reliable.
And from what i've been testing and reading, Hylafax is an extremely
powerful:
"HylaFAX is an enterprise-class system for
