CentOS 7 AMI Building
Yes... we currently use Packer to achieve a repeatable build process, from scratch. We'd like to replicate that and be able to build from scratch without spinning up an EC2 instance, in an automated way. I don't know how to phrase this, so apologies if it comes across wrong, I have immense respect for you personally and for CentOS... but, is it really that difficult to post the kickstarts

Version numbering vis a vis CentOS and RHEL

This is the thing that bothers me most - that folks dont have a good grasp on what / why the numbering is working like this. We are still a small team, and all efforts are flat out on getting the iso media and images done,

Official AWS AMIs: eu-central-1 support?
Hello all, and thank you very much for the Centos 7 HVM AMI [1], greatly appreciated! This AMI does not work on the newly launched AWS Frankfurt region (eu-central-1). Any plans for fixing that? According to the AWS announcement [2], "The Region supports all sizes of T2, M3, C3, R3, and I2 instances". (We'll be running the CentOS 7 HVM AMI going forward, but looks like none of

hi, I just noticed that yum install xen does not pull in the xen kernel on c7, is this by design ? -- Karanbir Singh +44-207-0999389 | http://www.karan.org/ | twitter.com/kbsingh GnuPG Key : http://www.karan.org/publickey.asc

Enterprise Linux Slack
To be honest Freenode is nice and I'd be sad to see it replaced with anything. So cool to be a "/join #project" away from getting help. If we go Mattermost, can we have a searchable public archive of the chats? Something search engines can index and we can point people to? -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! Pull Request wiki.c.o/AdditionalResources/Repositories
KB -- I made those changes several months ago (Sep/Oct I believe), with discussion in IRC. This was after a spate of people in the main channel having issues with Atomic (there's a name that's going to end up causing problems...) and the continued use of RPMForge/RepoForge, with no indication that they're really really bad. As well as the recognition of the reality that there are a

Package lists for Cloud images
hi Guys, As we get ready to start publishing Cloud Images ( or rather images consumable in various virt platforms, including public and private clouds ) - it would be great to have a baseline package manifest worked out. What / how many images should we build. At this time we were thinking of doing : - CentOS-5 32bit minimal - CentOS-6 32bit minimal - CentOS-5 64bit minimal - CentOS-6 64bit

unprivileged users rebooting at console
I'm curious why any user logged in at the console can issue the 'reboot' command and reboot the system.? I've tested/verified this to work, and read some older posts about this.? If it were a bug, I suspect it would be fixed by now. Also, if a user is logged into the console, and then logs in via ssh from another system, that user can also reboot the system from that ssh

mirroring people.centos.org
Is there an easy way to mirror people.centos.org? I tried "rsync people.centos.org::" and it gives some disclaimers followed by a null list of available modules. I've got an ugly workaround using wget, but would prefer to use rsync. c -- Carl T. Miller Systems Engineer carl at carltm.com

kvm-qemu-ev in testing
hi, kvm-qemu-ev from virt7-kvm-common-release is now signed and available on buildlogs.centos.org for testing, the corresponding release file is available in the centos/7/extras/ location on buildlogs as well. Once we have some testing, we can push and announce via mirror.centos.org for wider adoption. Regards, -- Karanbir Singh +44-207-0999389 | http://www.karan.org/ | twitter.com/kbsingh

VPAT for centos 7 - section 508compliancestatement
let me chase that up, I dont really understand what a VPAT might be, looks to be US centric - but it also looks like it aims to make assertions on and from the CentOS project side. best to work it via the board first. notify emails from wiki.centos.org
hi folks, making a few edits i just noticed that a lot of emails get sent out on every edit on wiki.c.o - this isnt a problem as such, but i wonder if its better for more people to use an rss feed ? alternatively, do we need/want a wiki-commits list that gets all of these, and people can just subscribe to that list ?
