[LLVMdev] Recent clang 3.7 RC1 release broke Travis CI integration
Hi, Until Friday of last week, it was possible to install a package named "clang-3.7" from the llvm-toolchain-precise repository linked to from http://llvm.org/apt/. However, at about the same time 3.7 RC1 was announced, that stopped working. People who use Travis CI for integration testing frequently depend on being able to retrieve clang this way so that they can test their

IMO, as a multiprecision math library maker, the "teaching the optimizer what to do with the existing intrinsics" approach is much better as long as it can be made to work. If one is

Article for wiki consideration
I've recently documented simple use of a VServer with CentOS host and guest. toracat@ said that it might be worthwhile putting on the wiki. The present article is located at http://home.nyc.rr.com/computertaijutsu/vserver.html If it does get to the wiki, I would remove the fedora section and also add a notice at the beginning of the article with dire warnings about using a non-stock kernel.

Accessing Windows shares - mini HowTo
On the CentOS mailing list and Forums, I occasionally see questions relating to accessing Windows shares. Thought I could share my notes on this subject which I put together on a web page: http://toracat.freeshell.org/centos/HowToAccessWin.html It is a short practical guide. I would appreciate receiving comments and suggestions. Akemi

MANOVA with random factor
Dear All I would need to perform a MANOVA with both fixed (group, sex, group*sex) and random (brood) effects. I wonder if this is at all possible and if R does that. At the moment, I only know that I can run a classic MANOVA with R. New Section under TipsAndTricks/Filesystem Tips called "Configuring Automount in Gnome for USB Drives"
Hello, This is user MichaelConvey. I would like to add a section under TipsAndTricks/Filesystem Tips called "Configuring Automount in Gnome for USB Drives". The content will include something like the following: 1) yum install gconf-editor 2) In gnome, go to Applications/System Tools/Configuration Editor 3) In the graphical editor, in the left window, go to

5.2 driver for Marvell Yukon 88E8042 PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller
Hello, I'm trying to install CentOS 5.2 on an HP 6730s notebook. All's going well except for one little item -- the networking. Never thought I'd have trouble with an Ethernet adapter, so I didn't even check before buying this machine; it was cheap. The adapter is a Marvell Yukon 88E8042 PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller. I can't find a Linux driver for it except one that

About the article OS_Protection by JimPerrin
Evolution (aka JimPerrin - or is this the other way around?) has been working on this excellent wiki article: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/OS_Protection However, the discussion is taking place at his own blog site http://www.bofh-hunter.com/ . Because this is a CentOS wiki article, I just wonder why we cannot do it here. Sure, his blog site may collect a wider audience, but we traditionally

CentOS Forums
We have CentOS Forums here: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/ Akemi Yagi (toracat on IRC) and Fabian Arrotin (arrfab on IRC) are the Forum Moderators. There are a lot of posts there that I find helpful when doing web searches ... but we could use more people answering questions there. Also, we specifically need some people to answer questions concerning Oracle database deployment in the

ggplot2, geom_hline and facet_grid
Hi I have a long data set on which I want to do Bland-Altman style plots for each rhythm type Using ggplot2, when I use geom_hline with facet_grid I get an extra set of empty panels. I can't get it to do it with the "Diamonds" data supplied with the package so here is a (much abbreviated) example: > lvexs cvd_basestudy ecd_rhythm fixed_time variable_time 1 CBP05J02

System beeps in kernel 2.6.18-194
So, just today I noticed a problem with kernel 2.6.18-194 (CentOS 5.5) on several Intel DP965LT systems; the system beeps (such as terminal beeps) are no longer passed through to the external speakers. This is a problem because in our situation the boxes are distant from their monitor/keyboard, the system speaker on this motherboard is extremely weak, and there are no system speaker header pins

ggplot2 histograms
Hi With ggplot2 I can very easily create beautiful histograms but I would like to put two histograms on the same plot. The histograms may be over-lapping. When they are overlapping the bars are shown on top of each other (so that the overall height is the sum of the two). Is there any way to get them to display overlapping (with smaller value in front, larger value behind) so that the overall

Cannot Boot XServer
I am currently using Virtual PC 2007 to install/configure CentOS 4.5. I've got the O/S installed ok. However since running a yum update, I can no longer successfully complete an init 5 boot. Virtual PC gives an internal error 13 message. If I boot to init 3, I can reconfigure the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and run 'startx' manually without any problems. If I then shutdown the Virtual
