libguestfs-tools not working
In CentOS 6 with KVM, I have libguestfs-tools installed, but the
"virt-xxx" tools like "virt-df" just give, "libguestfs: error: cannot
find any suitable libguestfs supermin, fixed or old-style appliance on
LIBGUESTFS_PATH (search path: /usr/lib64/guestfs)". What am I missing?
All the guests boot and run OK. I just can't get these tools to work.

libguestfs preview for RHEL 7.4
With the release of RHEL 7.3 happening today, fixing 88 reported bugs
in libguestfs and virt-v2v, and countless other ones, it's time to
look ahead to RHEL 7.4.
Again we intend to rebase libguestfs, virt-v2v and virt-p2v:

libguestfs for RHEL 6.5 preview repository
In RHEL 6.5 we are probably going to rebase libguestfs, febootstrap
and virt-v2v.
As usual when this happens, I've put up a preview repository:
http://oirase.annexia.org/tmp/libguestfs-RHEL-6.5/
If you want to use these packages, the easiest thing to do is to copy
the attached file into /etc/yum.repos.d/ and simply install or upgrade
libguestfs.
If you want to test libguestfs, obviously

USB 3.0 in qemu-kvm-0.12
I suspect I know the answer here, but is qemu-kvm-0.12 simply incapable
of passing a USB 3.0 device to a guest? USB 2 devices work fine, but
USB 3 -- nothing. USB 3.0 works fine in the host, of course.
Currently using qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.479.el6_7.4.x86_64 in CentOS 6.7.
I'm guessing I have to upgrade to CentOS 7 to pass USB 3.0 devices
to the guest. Hoping to avoid that just now.

ghostscript update breaks evince
Today's ghostscript.x86_64 0:8.70-21.el6_8.1 update causes evince to refuse to
display any postscript file. Running evince from a terminal session, I see the
errors:
invalidaccess -7
invalidaccess -7
invalidaccess -7
** (evince:1252): WARNING **: Error rendering thumbnail
Downgrading to ghostscript.x86_64 0:8.70-21.el6 corrects the problem.
Anyone else seeing this?

libguestfs-winsupport
Hello List,
Does anyone know why this is not available in CentOS 6.6. I found it in a SL repo but not in CentOS.
I found several CentOS Bugs one answered by JH http://bugs.centos.org/print_bug_page.php?bug_id=6822
saying it had been added to 6.5
2013-12-09 19:05 JohnnyHughes Resolution open => fixed
But it is still not available.

ANNOUNCE: libguestfs & virt-v2v RHEL 7.3 preview packages available
If you are running RHEL 7.2 betas or snapshots (or RHEL 7.2 when it
comes out next month) then you may be interested in trying out the
newer RHEL 7.3 preview versions of:
- libguestfs
- virt-v2v (Supported since RHEL 7.2)
- virt-p2v (Technical Preview in RHEL 7.2, Supported in RHEL 7.3)
I intend to release upstream 1.32 towards the end of this year, and
rebase libguestfs to that version. For

Shutdown hangs on "Unmounting NFS filesystems"
Once the system gets into this state, the only remedy is a forced
power-off. What seems to be happening is that an NFS filesystem that
auto-mounted over a WiFi connection cannot be unmounted because the
WiFi connection is enabled only for my login and gets torn down when
my UID is logged off.
Any suggestions on how I can configure things to avoid this? I
really don't want to expose my WPA2

Total lockup caused by Shift-{print screen}
I just had the misfortune to press Shift-{print screen} accidentally
while in a Gnome desktop, and the result was a completely unresponsive
system where the only recovery was a power switch initiated shutdown.
Further investigation shows the runaway creation of gnome-screenshot
processes.
System is CentOS 5.2 fully updated on an Intel i686.

No firefox 38.1.1 update
I'm still not getting the firefox-38.1.1-1.el6.centos.x86_64.rpm
that was announced yesterday (8 August) morning. I looked at
several of the mirror sites I receive, and they all have the new
firefox in their Packages directory, but their repodata is all
a day older (7 August), so yum doesn't see the update.
Example mirror: http://mirror.cs.uwp.edu/pub/centos/6.7/updates/x86_64/

Mouse and display issues with Windows 10 guest
Anyone managed to get a Windows 10 guest running well under qemu/kvm?
I can get it up and running, but there is a major issue with losing
use of the mouse, plus my display resolution is stuck at 1024x768.
The mouse will work for a short time (a few seconds to a few minutes),
but then stops responding. That's with the mouse coming in as the
recommended QEMU tablet device. I can assign a USB

reload /sbin/init
Hi,
There was an update of glibc on CentOS 6
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2015-January/020863.html
and now:
# needs-restarting

How do i tell /sbin/init to use the updated files from glibc without a
reboot?
