Unexplained shutdown of VM on upgrade of libvirt package
I am running KVM on Centos 6.3 and am seeing an unexplained shut down of
two guests. The libvirt package was upgraded to
libvirt-0.10.2-18.el6_4.4.x86_64 at the time of the shutdown. Only the
two guests shown below was affected, while 9 others running on the same
hypervisor were not.
Can some one help me to find the cause please ?

virt-clone - In what state should the VM be?
I am attempting to clone a Xen VM running on a CentOS 5.3 box. When I try
to do it on a live VM I get this error:
# virt-clone -o vm1 -n vm1-clone -f /root/vm1-clone
ERROR: Domain status must be SHUTOFF
When I do it after shutting down the VM, I get this error:
# virt-clone -o vm1 -n vm1-clone -f /root/vm1-clone
ERROR: Domain queso is not found
How do I get this VM into a state which is

I vaguely recall a bug like this, but I don't know any more details.
Then again, libvirt-3.9.0 is 2 years old. So I suggest try to upgrade
libvirt and see if it helps. Alternatively, you may try to run git

Vm in state "in shutdown"
Description of problem:
libvirt 3.9 on CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (kernel 3.10.0-693.21.1.el7.x86_64) on Qemu version 2.10.0
I’m currently facing a strange situation. Sometimes my vm is shown by ‘virsh list’ as in state “in shutdown” but there is no qemu-kvm process linked to it.
Libvirt log when “in shutdown” state occur is as follows:
“d470c3b284425b9bacb34d3b5f3845fe” is vm’s name,

virsh reboot "in shutdown" state?
Hi all,
I've got a weird issue, and I'm trying to confirm if it's a bug, and if so, if there is a workaround until it is fixed.
The situation is this: If I virsh reboot <domain> --mode acpi, it will actually reboot the domain cleanly (watching from the console allows me to see the full shutdown messages, followed by a bootup). However, after this point, virsh domstate

Out of memory causes VM shutdown
I created a new VM today and it ran for a while before mysteriously disappearing. I logged in to the node it was running on to take a look at the logs and it looks as though the VM was shut down because the node ran out of memory. This particular node has 8GB in it and was running 4 VMs (including the crashed one). The memory assigned to each VM was 4G, 1.5G, 512M, 256M. It was the 256M VM

CyberPower USB UPS fails to cut power during shutdown
Hi,
I have a CyberPower UPS connected to a Ubuntu karmic machine. All
functions are working well. I can use upsc to see all the UPS
parameters, power loss and battery low events are correctly detected,
and shutdown is correctly initiated. If I run upsdrvctl shutdown, the
UPS cuts power immediately.
However, if I simulate a shutdown with upsmon -c fsd, the UPS fails to
cut power. The

What could cause an "unclean shutdown" of process?
Hello everyone,
I've been experiencing many problems recently with windows software parsing
large text files stored on a samba share (smb version 3.6.3 on
ubuntu12.04). The software, which are running on windows XP stations, are
crashing quite often.
I notice this in the log.smbd at the time of the crash:

[PATCH server] Don't set VM state to shut down in task.
This patch changes taskomatic so it only sets the VM to shutdown if
the undefine succeeds. Otherwise it's possible a shutdown event could
not succeed, or take a while as it often does, giving confusing
messages to the user. Basically we're just letting dbomatic handle
it now.

tempdir() may be deleted during long-running R session
From the R-admin manual ?5:
'Various environment variables can be set to determine where R creates
its per-session temporary directory. The environment variables TMPDIR,

points to a writable area is used. If none do, the final default is /tmp

mysterious weekly shutdown
I have a Centos 5.4 machine that has, for the past two weeks, apparently
been shut off over the weekend. It's just sitting there turned off on
Monday morning and when someone hits the power switch it comes right
back on and everything works again.
This happened last weekend, and again over this past weekend.
Here is /var/log/messages from shortly before it apparently shut down
this weekend.

doveadm table formatter: hidden titles may cause misaligned headers
Hello,
I recently noticed a small bug in the doveadm table formatter: hidden titles may cause the headers to be misaligned.
The behavior in question was introduced by commit <http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.2/rev/210282ae46e1> and
doveadm -f table quota get -A
may be used to reproduce it.
Most simple patch attached: it simply restores the old behavior, to some extent.

incorrect configuration may cause instability
Hi,
When two systems with the same name and key pair try to connect to a
tinc mesh, the whole mesh is dossed.
Situation: a vps is migrated to an other hoster. Access has been
disabled, vps is powered on. Then suddenly after a couple of weeks the
vps is powerd on again causing two vps'es trying to connect with the
same credentials.
I think the result should be that neither of those two nodes

What would cause a drop between two asterisk systems?
We have an asterisk frontend terminating all our SIP phones to, and an
asterisk backend with a wildcard PRI card in it connecting to the PTSN.
The frontend handles 99% of dialplan logic and just hands off anything
outgoing to the backend via IAX2, which dials out on one of the open
channels.
Lately we've been getting a disconnected calls. Keeping the consoles
running it doesn't seem to be
